  1. I too am going veil less! To me its kind of an old tradition i guess. Or maybe I'm just not into it! My dress shopping experience was painful! I probably went to 8 different shops and tried on dress after dress. Just couldn't find the right one, but I did find it at my last attempt!! Its very flowy and perfect for Cancun!

So...just wondering who on here has done DIY centerpeices and what did you do? I am looking for ideas on doing them in Cancun but am a little nervous not knowing what I will be able to find for vases, etc. I was thinking a trip to Walmart to find vases and then have flowers delivered. Any thoughts or ideas??

  2. Hi Ladies -

ANOTHER Feb. 18th, 2010 bride here! That must be a good day to get married! I am getting married at the Casa Magna Marriott at their wedding gazebo over looking the ocean! SO EXCITED!

So I've got I think most things done now I am just debating flowers and centerpeices. Do you think its crazy for me to want to do my centerpeices myself? I was thinking of buying vases at walmart, I have ribbon to wrap around the vase and then going to a flower shop and buying flowers...does anyone think I'm crazy for doing this?? I really need some advice for either DIY centerpeices or a cheap forists! Anyone??

  3. Hey leogurl! So here is what I am doing to keep costs extremely low for all who is attending. We are renting timeshares that can house 6 people each (two bed/two bath w/ full kitchen) for a full week. The costs to rent a timeshare is so much less than renting a room or suite at a regular resort. So we are doing that for accomodations for the wedding party, which is about 20 people (5 rooms). Then we are going to ask that each person who FOR SURe knows that they will be coming to make a $150 deposit for their share of the room expenses. And then once we get closer to the date we will know exactly how many people are coming and how much more to charge each person. Sounds like alot of work right? But I think its worth it to have all my peeps come from all over. I'll do the extra work.

So we will stay at a timeshare and then have the wedding and reception at the Marriot. The total for each person to stay at the timeshare will be no more than $300. Which is a sweet deal for a whole week! Okay this is becoming wayy too long so I will end here. But def. let me know if you have questions! I am excited to hear where you end up having your wedding. I spoke with my WC today (via email) and she still won't book 2/11/10 until about a month. She says that she is only booking conventions right now. UGH!

  4. Hey - good to hear there is another fellow Portlander who is getting married in Cancun 2010!!! My tentative date is 2/11/10 and I'm going thru the same stuff with the wedding coordinators at the resorts. They say they can't book anything until 8-10 mos. in advance! Thats crazy I want to book everything right now! Anyway, I'm planning to have the ceremony & reception at the Marriott. When are you getting married?
