My invites are in!!! I have to go pick them up at FedEx after work! yeah!!!! I am sooo excited to see them I will try and take a pic to show.

I am so sorry....... I am also supposed to get married at the Tucan, but not till November. I just sent an email to both wedding coordinators at the tucan and at the lindo/ maya. I will call my TA during lunch today. I will let you know any info I hear that could be pertinent to a wedding so close!

Neither one of us are from the town we live in and both have family/ friends all across the country (hence the destination wedding!)

Hey girls!

 

I go in spurts checking the blog b/c I work full time and am also getting my MBA! So class keeps me occupied a lot!!!!!

 

Anyways-- This week a lot has happened this week wedding wise!

 

1.) I called our TA about renegotiating hotel rates since everything has gone down a bunch-- and he was able to do it, so whoever has booked in full will get money back! YEAH!!! I would suggest looking on apple or something and see if its comparable to what you blocked for rooms if you are going through a TA... just a thought since we were able to save so much money!

 

2.) Our wedding coordinator at my resort has switched starting May 1-- I freaked out for about 24 hours, but at least its not a month before...

 

3.) I am getting our invitations together and will order this weekend...

 

 

4.) When is everyone planning on doing showers / bach parties.. my friends have already started to ask and we are thinking the weekend before Labor Day (1.) Still warm in Chicago where I am going to have it and 2) FI wants to go to Vegas and I guess its opening weekend for Football or something

 

-- but just wanted to see if that was too early to have it? Our wedding is the 14th of Nov.

I love the colors!!!! that green is great.....hmmm I will have to decide. I read through most of the posts! I am excited that we can all plan together!!!

Things I have done:

-- booked our trip (flight and rooms)
-- booked photographer
-- found my dress!!!!! It already came in and I LOVE it...
-- asked everyone in our wedding party
-- sent out STD's
-- booked makeup artist
-- got our block of rooms from our TA
-- some people have already booked!

Things I need to do soon:

-- order invitations
-- start figuring out all the LEGAL stuff.... does anyone have advice for this?
-- decide on OOT bags....

any advice for sending out invitations... I was thinking mid- May... but I still have to order ours!!!

I just found this post!!!! This is great.... we are getting married November 14, 2009 at the Iberostar Tucan... I am so excited, but also starting to get a little stressed!!!!

 

I have not found bridesmaid dresses yet.... I was thinking a dark blue / teal color.

Mayra has been great so far with answering my emails! She said about 2-3 months out she will contact us about flowers etc...

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the Tucan! Have you been there? We went in December to visit and decide on the resort.

I am getting married at the Tucan and we are using an outside photographer..... Pictures are the only thing after we come home so its something I want to spend the money on... even if it meant the $300 fee to bring in someone from the outside!

oh!!! Thanks for the info. that is GREAT there is a MAC in Playa del Carmen... I am looking for something as well as I heard the makeup artist the hotel recommends is not that good.....

 

Please let me know which makeup artist you go to as my wedding is in November is it too early to start booking

My save the dates came today! yeah... I still have to order magnets... they should cost me about $40 total from vistaprint.com

I just got the STD's in the mail today, so I will see them after work! I plan on mailing them out next weekend... so giving people enough time (I hope!).

Sorry I am bad at posting everyday... along with planning a wedding I am getting my MBA part time after work!!!! Busy busy...

 

Anyways.. our wedding is November 14, 2009. Email Mayra to see if the 28th is still open if you are deciding about it.

 

We were planning on about 60 people... but now more people have started to say they might come!!! So who knows how many we will end up with!

I ordered the save the dates the other day!! and they look great I can't wait to get them in the mail.

I like the save the dates that go along with my wedding invitation, but I also want to send out magnets for everyone.
