  1. KimmyG - Yes, I thought it was a cute touch. Especially because it was hot and they were down there for a while waiting for my grand entrance! LOL It sucked to pay, but if you want it, its gonna cost you...if it is not a service that is offered.

During the early evening ( I wanna say between 5pm - 9 there is always some kind of live music and activities going on in the plaza) so before dinner, hanging out in the plaza is the way to go w/o you paying for entertainment. you just have to be open to whatever is there, because its a surprise. But it isnt tacky or anything.

If your doing the cocktail hour thing after your ceremony, they are most likely going to set you up in an area close to the plaza.

After dinner, all my friends were pretty wasted, but everyone decided to go to 5th ave. and we went to the blue parrot to continue the party.

We didnt set any transportation up in advance or anything, it was just a spur of the moment thing.

and, I couldn't sell my dress! Its in my closet and I see it each and everyday!!!

    I heart my dress!!!

  2. Your very welcome and thanks for the compliment!

I was in your same shoes this time last year and know exactly what you feel like!

Once it was all over and done with I remember thinking "Gosh, If I knew then what I know now, I could have skipped over all that unessesary stressing.

I remember the wedding coordinators told me at our meeting that the reason they dont deal with you prior to meeting with you, is because they are so busy with the current weddings going on, they dont have time to really deal with details over e-mail.

there isnt anything that can be physically done prior to your arrival.

Oh...and the disco...well, I'd feel bad by not putting my 2 cents in, but it looks really old, dark and dirty!!!

Suggestion ....either party outside in the plaza or in the lobby/piano area...

  3. Hello Future RPRM Brides,

It's been a minute since i have posted anything on here, since Im coming up on my 1 year anniversary since I wed at RPRM.

I've been following this thread since they appear on my inbox, and i am very excited for each and every one of you.

I've noticed that alot of you are irritated with the lack of communication coming from the wedding coordinators.

Let me just give you a piece of advice, so that maybe you can stop stressing so much over that.

They WILL NOT deal with you, or set anything up for you prior to your arrival.

(Other than the regular: pick your location for the ceremony and cake preference)

So do yourself a favor and stop stressing over something you have no control over!

Write down all the things/ extras / ideas - that you would like for your wedding and once you are at your appointment a few days before your wedding, that is when you let them know. They will do it if they can, even if they charge you a small fee for that service.

I had the strawberry daquiris as a cocktail treat pre-wedding while my guests awaited the start of the ceremony. I asked for this at the appointment and I think they charged me $5 per person.

So it can be done. They just focus on your details a few days prior to your wedding.

Just think about how many weddings and brides/bridezillas they have to deal with when it comes to details.

So just relax, dont trip over things you have no control over (right now) and enjoy these days leading up to your wedding date!

Hope this helps a bit and puts you at ease.

I'm wondering if anyone has hired a local photographer for their wedding at the RPRM? We want to have someone local, but not the resort photographers. Will the resort let us? All I've heard so far from them is that they "prohibit the entrance of external photographers."

There must be some way around this?

    Thanks for your input!
    Hi Carrie,
I brought my own photographer (flew him down, paid for his stay) and his pictures didnt compare to the pics that the photographer from the Riu took!
Carlos is really good, and If I could do it all over again, I would have just stayed with the Hotel's PHotographer. Im will save you money and you can always purchase more pics if it goes over your package deal.

He is the Riu's exclusive photographer and he knows the hotel and knows where all the money shots are at.

You may want to reconsider and stay with him....Unless you've seen the other photographers work and its off the hook!!!

    Good Luck with that!

No they dont. It's hard enough to get them to give you a real reception unless you have over 50 guests!
So if you want a reception outside of the hotel, look around at other vendors and places you could throw your reception out there.

    Good Luck!
  6. Read my review and I left the information the exclusive wedding photographer they use.

His contact info and website, so you can get an idea of his work!

Now I kinda wish I would have used him instead of flying down my own. This guy knows what he's doing and knows the resort very well. so you should get some great shots!

  7. I am also an online dater!!! LOL

I met my husband on myspace!!!

Funny thing is that his profile and pics looked nothing like his current state!

So when I met him, I was turned off, but his personality and charming ways kept me coming back for more!

...We just got married in November, and we are truly happy!

It looks like online dating is becoming the new and improved way to meet and screen people!

    It works!!!

  8. We got the Carice Package. OMG, the Spa package is amazing. U do the Spa package together (a couple's massage), and its fantastic! I re-did my pedicure the day before the wedding. I gave my husband the manicure, since I had my fake pink/white set on.

The food was good at Boto Fogo. Have you ever gone to a Brazillian BBQ restauraunt?

They have a buffet w/ salads and side dishes. Then they come around and slice pieces of meat onto your plate. (filet mignon, chicken, pork, chicken, sirloin steak...and a few others I cant remember. Very well marinated) They also have a clay pot (1 per 2 ppl) w/ veggies, bananas wrapped in bacon & potatoes that they light on fire!!! It's pretty cool!

So when exactly is your wedding? I want to do it again!!! LOL

  9. Aw, thank you! His Name is Carlos Magallon

    Cell number is 984 115 4540

    I hope this helps!

Oh, and there is a beautiful public beach next to Tulum Where you CAN take pics. Just get there very early in the morning, so you dont get hella people in your pics (im talking about being there around 7:30 - 8 A.m. for best results.

Its called Playa Paraiso. Its a 5 min. ride away from Tulum, so you get that beautiful White powder sugar sand, and turquoise blue water!

I definately want to do some but not sure if i should hire someone outside (and pay for them to stay at the resort) or have the resort photographer take them the following day.
Now that I look back, I would have just hired the photographer from the resort (Carlos ). He did such an amazing job capturing the best and most important moments! (my photographer disapointed me. and i flew him in!) Thank god for the free pics from the Riu!
So I would recommend you hire him for the trash the dress.
Plus he is from there, and im sure he knows nice beaches around the area.Let me know if you want his contact info. Maybe you can e-mail him and get an idea of how much he will charge.
