Thank you for the pic compliments! She was amazing! BUT the onsite photographer was SO NICE (we used one for our welcome dinner) and if you have suggestions they'll do everything they can to make you happy!!
Yes, we just had her stay as our guest. I didn't ask, others did, I was scared they'd say no! =)
Other than the photography I didn't upgrade anything. The cake was the "free" one, the flowers were the "free" ones. I just told them I wanted the bouquet round instead of cascading (like they show on the website. They have lots of pictures once you get there.

Elizabeth Medina (the photographer we used) lives about 4 hours from Aventura Spa Palace. She required a stay at the resort as part of our package.
I never really asked the people at ASP, I just told them from the beginning that one of our guests would be doing our pictures. I figured its easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission =)
Our pro pics should be up soon! can't wait!

These pictures aren't very good. Elizabeths will be MUCH BETTER!!! Not many people took pictures, everyone just enjoyed themselves... But here are some! I think if you take lots of pictures of how you want your hair done then you'll be OK! I only had 2 little ones...It wasn't awful, just not the natural beachy theme I was going for... Mundaca is a great place, they'll put you off by yourself, Its a big place, plus even though it says "casual" it's still really nice by most US restaurant standards! They wait on you hand and foot! La Hacienda is where we had our dinner, its on the same side, they were hesitant because its their busiest restaurant but we asked nicely. Either one would be great!! They go out of their way to make it special. I thought about bringing in my own aisle runner too, but it was pretty windy so I just didn't bother. And they forgot to take the carpet up, but my Groom was on top of it! So he reminded the wedding coordinator and she took care of it at 3:50 for our 4pm wedding! Thank goodness...I wouldn't have walked down the aisle otherwise, jk.
I wasn't into the gazebo either, but its nice because it blocks some of the wind and sounds from the resort. It worked out great. Will let you know when the pro pics are up but until then...

I will start a new thread, I'm just being lazy and copying what I wrote to another bride who had questions.... =)
We had 25 people at our wedding. Our coordinator was Dulce. She's new, but she was great!
My brother played the guitar for the ceremony, he's amazing.... But the sound system was great. The Wedding was at Coba Gazebo, it was close to the people, but everyone was quiet, respectful and even had some randoms looking on from a distance. Everyone yells "Congratulations" When they see you in the dress =) They don't do anything halfway...They really are pros! I was so nervous!
We did a welcome dinner on Thursday night at La Ventanas. Its a buffet, but the food was great, and there was something for everyone. It wasn't really busy so even though it wasn't "private" we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
Elizabeth Medina did our pictures, she's going to post one more wedding then ours! I CAN'T WAIT! She was amazing!!!!!
I did the whole horse drawn carriage thing, Loved it!!
The officiant's name was Jorge...but he spoke GREAT english! I was so excited about that! He did a wonderful ceremony!!! If we get our video soon I'll put it on YouTube so you can see it.
I had them take up the red carpet. It's just not my style. And It looked great without it! I didn't put anything in its place.
I thought about doing all of the private stuff but in the end I just ended up doing it simple. It ended up BEAUTIFUL! And everyone enjoyed that it was relaxed...Everyone is so chill down there and the whole place is beautiful, so you don't have to do many extra things, which is nice!
We did do a Cocktail Reception after the ceremony. The ceremony was at 4, the Reception was 5-6. It was in the Pandero Terrace and it was PERFECT at sunset! Right over the ocean, waves crashing as we did our first dance... =) Toasts, chilled, pictures, etc... We just brought computer speakers and our IPod and the sound was perfect. We just had a playlist set and let it go... There was TONS of food at the cocktail reception. And our strawberry wedding cake was so good!! I had read they were nasty, but ours was great! we got lots of compliments.
After that we went to La Hacienda for a dinner.... They set us off to ourselves, there was a trio there, and everyone really loved it. They make Mexican coffee at the tables, they do something crazy with coffee tequilla and fire...It's entertaining!
The restaurants were all good...La Hacienda was our favorite, the Italian place was really good too. Mundaca is the steak place and it was good, but pretty casual. Ventanas was good, there's a violinist, pasta bar, seafood, they custom make steaks...
My only main complaint was the beauty parlor....Goodness gratious. I showed a picture, but they didn't really speak english. They do your hair BIG and well...think early 90s prom! HAHAHA! I wanted to cry, but instead just laughed and told them...um...I can do my own makeup! My mom had her hair and makeup done and it was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! So take lots of pictures if they do your hair, and maybe request someone who speaks good English...there are some! But don't be suprised if you look like a Golden Girl.
Um...that's all I can think of. They're very organized and it was a wonderful experience. I will put my pictures on snapfish soon, so let me know if you want me to email you the link. I didn't allow pics during the ceremony because we brought in an outside photographer and I didn't want pictures of people taking pictures...
Sorry this is kinda random...the spa rocks! Loved the massages, we had the middle package so they were included. I'll think of more things...let me know if you have questions!

6 weeks! WOW!!! You'll have to tell me how everything goes!!! But the planner has been great so far, very quick to respond!! I've never been there either, but it looks amazing!
Are you ready? -
question....
we have a Superior wedding package. It includes the Photographer.
Since then we've decided to bring in a photographer. She's staying as a hotel guest, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I'm wondering how break the news to the onsite WC that we won't need their photographer??
Any advice??

Dez---how fun!! I won't have a shower until December =) I'm nervous about opening gifts in front of all my FI's mother's friends....I'll have to drink a little wine first =) and yes, we'll have to meet at the MP since we're both staying there and getting married a day apart =) The planner on-site planner with Aventura is wonderful!! But I hope I don't wish I'd stayed at MP!
And I'd go with one color Sash. I like Navy and then the pretty flowers will "pop" =)
I'm trying to pick out invitations this week! My mom and family are NO HELP. I swear no one has an opinion until I make a decision =) ANOTHER reason I'm having a DW!!!!
Oh--and I found my MOH dress on ebay, it's jcrew and a green color called aloe.
I'll post pictures of everything soon! Everyone looks so beautiful in theirs!
Time for another work week! =)

nevermind, I'm slow. you got married at MP. Sorry, I'm at work and was reading in a hurry!!! =) Got it now!

Did you stay at Moon Palace? If so, how'd you get everyone to the wedding?
I can't think of specifics right now, but I will later =)
Erin -
not to post 1000 things in a row =) i'm still trying to go back and catch up on what you guys have been writing.
as far as jewelry goes...i was thinking of doing some classy coral earings. i'll have to take a picture and post it.
my MOH is wearing coral.
Is that trashy? my future MIL seems to think that getting married in anything BUT PEARLS is a terrible idea....
-
Mainly we changed locations because the only time we could get married at The Moon Palace was 1:00 on Friday the 16th. I agreed to this originally, but then just couldn't get the dream of a "sunset" wedding out of my head. So, after I found out none of the kids were coming---we swapped to Aventura.
So far planning with them has been great! Everyone is staying at Moon Palace and then taking private transportation to Aventura. We thought it would be a nice way to let everyone see another resort!
Do you have a picture of your invitations?? I have considered doing them myself, just am a medical person---not very crafty! =)

I'm getting married at Aventura on 1.16.09.
I know basically nothing about the place!
We were going to get married at the Moon Palace, but changed to Aventura, so we could have a "sunset"wedding. Plus, all of the people with kids bailed!
We have a small group going---around 20.
I think we're going to do the dinner after the wedding at the Mexican place. I like the idea of the fun atmosphere, and the mariachi bands..
We're doing the superior wedding package. After the wedding we want to do a cocktail hour so that we can dance, cut the cake, etc. Then we'll all just go to dinner together in one of the restaurants.
Basically that's all I know! our WC emailed me yesterday and he seems great!! He emails me back within 12-24 hours.
THe only thing that stresses me out is that we're getting married at Aventura, but everyone is staying at Moon Palace. I'm worried I won't have anywhere to put my dress on!!!!! Maybe they'll let me use a room for a few hours or something....I don't know!
Anyways---looking forward to "planning" with you.

Hey ladies!!
I'm also an January 2009 Bride. 1.16.09 to be exact.
We were planning a Moon Palace wedding in Cancun BUT we have changed it to Aventura Spa Palace!
I'm super excited about it and the on-site WC has already been emailing me!
We have our save the dates out for the AHR and Wedding in Cancun.
Photog Booked--using Elizabeth Medina.
Dress purchased.
Only one BM, GM. So that's easy enough.
AND...so far that's it!
I've started looking at invitiations/announcements. I'm amazed at home expensive they are!
Anyways, I can't wait to chat with you ladies more!!
Just wanted to introduce myself!

yes! no matter how much or little it costs, there will be people telling you how expensive it is. Some of our best friends aren't coming, and we were upset about it at first, but don't worry about it, you can drive yourself crazy trying to please everyone!!!!
