I just got back from Curacao, we got married there on nov. 7th. In october there was a tropical storm Omar that destroyed many beaches. When we where in 2006 I just loved the beaches and the sea (I have never seen such clear water!!) The beaches that I like where "klein Knip, Cas Abou, Port Marie" If you like a more commercial beach you should go to Mambo Beach and Jan Thiel (Zanzibar) the beaches have sugary sand, but because of the storm it will take awhile for the beaches to get "normal". But although we had a good time at the beaches!! Also some adventure like climbing the Christoffel Mountain etc. You can also do some great snorkeling, I saw some sea turtles and very unique tropical fish. Exploring the beaches/sea by kayak is also lots of fun, we went to a blue cave, you should dive into it! Great! You can pm for questions.

I think we will do the dry erase board, thanks for sharing Amy! Great idea and I think guest will have so much fun doing it.
When I get home I will make a photobook/guestbook. Every guest will get their own page with nice pictures from them and their "comment picture ".
I think that will look so great.
Does anyone know if I can buy these boards online?

I have been twice to Curacao. I really like it over there! What do you expect from a honeymoon? I can send you some private pictures.
You have very nice beaches / areas at the Island but also some poor areas. There are really nice places to eat and dance. Also for diving it is really nice. What I also recommend is a visit at Bonaire, a really nice Island. You can fly with home Dividivi Air it’s about 90 dollars (15 minutes flight)
Hotel Marriott is really nice, next door you have a really nice restaurant / beach bar called Hooks Hut. You can also have a romantic dinner at the beach or a private one at the pier! That is really nice!! We are having our wedding reception at the pier!

Hook's Hut - de gezelligste beachbar en restaurant op Curacao

I first had a WC from the hotel but she also did not respond my e-mails, or very late just like you. So, I told her that I would switch because I don't need all the stress. You also should have a good connection with her, she must know what your style is etc. The weddingplanner I know have is great!! She does the following services like:
- meet and great at the hotel
- providing pre-screened vendors
- assisting with wedding color and theme
- advising etc and inlimited calls and e-mails
She also helps with the civil wedding planning, wedding etiquette, time table and the coordination of the wedding day. Actually she does everything, replies my e-mail the same day.
If you have a weddingplanner you shouldn't have the stress!! Ask her why she doesn't respond you questions and if you didn't pay her, switch to another one. A professional one will have a contract with her services and other information. Good luck and happy planning!!!

My Proposal story - Curacao, november 7th 2006
I had my last dive for my PADI. My boyfriend would dive with me just for fun...he said...I had noticed that he didn't eat all morning and he was gone with the instructor for awhile.
While we where diving my boyfriend would make heart signs with his hand and pointed at me. That was so sweet. A couple minutes later the diving instructor made me sit down on the bottom of the ocean and held up a sign that said: "do you like perfect moments" so I nodded yes. We where surrounded with beautiful fish so I thought there would be some nice fishes that I had to see...( I still did not have a clue)
Then he pointed at my boyfriend...who was on his knees with a sign that said "will you marry me"....He looked so sweet with his big eyes under his diving mask LOL! I was so surprised and because of my laughter there was an explosion of bubbles! Of course I wrote YES! on the back of the sign. He gave me my beautiful ring and we gave each other the most wettest kiss ever, but I loved it.
The instructor applauded, congratulated us (he made a nice kind of ceremony off it) and made pictures from us.
Wow! what a feeling huh when you just been proposed!
Hand in hand we would swim back to shore. When we arrived several people welcomed us with a huge applauding. The instructor had told them my boyfriend would propose me!
The diving suits where off in a minute! We had a private table at the terrace by the sea, a bottle of champagne (not a good idea after diving but hey this a once in a lifetime moment) The sun was slowly descending on the background...the moment couldn't be more perfect for me!!!
We are getting married on the beach, so no underwater wedding for us LOL.
(excuse my English, it's not my first language)

However, Aruba is considered off the hurricane belt and is far enough south that it does not get hit by major hurricanes. The weather there is near perfect all year round. It is a beautiful island.
Welcome to the forum and happy planning!

I tought about you Yari because you told me you went to Curacao for you honeymoon. At Marriot right? I hope you still had a great honeymoon!! We suposed to have our wedding there but it was cancelled because of the storm. We had a great alternative hotel Avila! Wow that is a great place to get married or have a honeymoon.
@ Lizzie: it's true there are no hurricanes at Curacao but there was a tropical storm Omar that destroyed a lot of beaches. There is also rain season from october untill march. I have been there for 3 weeks and the last week we had rain (the whole day) but we had so much fun over there!! The most beaches are prepared and I just love the water, I have never seen clear water then in Curacao or Aruba. October there is not so much rain, mostly in the morning. But the weather is changing all around the world, so you should consider september of early ocotber? Breezers is very nice! I got married at hotel Avila, that was so amazing!
Have fun planning!
