That's what I thought.....but in the mail she said I will require one cause I have more than 40.....that is not what the contract says.......ahhhhhhhhhhh!

FREAKING OUT.......I just got an email back from Silvia, after sending her all my wedding details. Please correct me if I am wrong. I assumed that you COULD have a private reception if you had AT LEAST 40 people. She is telling me that I HAVE to have one because I have over 40. I just read the contract and all it says is they CAN provide you with a private reception. I am so upset right now. If I am forced to have a private reception that means I HAVE to pay the $800 and I am unable to have a bonfire because there will not be enough time This is so frustrating :(

I am doing the exact same thing as you, but I am hiring a Steel Drum Band for the bonfire, than we will go to the disco!

Question.....I am planning on doing a candy buffet at my AHR and I was wondering if anyone could suggest the cheapest place to buy candy, right now Costco and Bulk Barn are all I can think of...thanks!

BONFIRE???
I am planning on having a bonfire on the beach after our reception and before the disco opens. I was wondering if someone could explain to me how this works. I understand it is $250 for the bonfire, which includes open bar for 15 people for an hour. I have approx. 50 people so I know I will have to pay the open bar charge of $7 per person after the 15. Now this is only for an hour. How long does the Bonfire usually last for if it goes on for 2 hrs do we have to pay for another hour of bar service or are the bartenders good with staying. Also does the wedding coordinator stick around during all of this?
Thanks

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of paperwork you need for the Renewal of Vows ceremony. I was planning on getting married "officially" in Canada first, but I am thinking I might do it right when we get back home if that is possible. Thanks!

I was at a wedding in Mexico and the Bride and Groom brought a good quality IPOD Dock (BOSE was the brand I think). It had great volume and they just loaded their IPOD with all their Music. I know its not as convenient but it can be your solution to having what you wanted in the first place.

I am getting married on a Thursday, and we wanted to have a Bonfire on the beach, with a DJ and open bar for two hours, for our after dinner reception and dance. I was told by the Beach WC, Silvia, that because my wedding is the night of the beach party for the resort, i am allowed to have a bonfire and open bar, but i am not allowed to have a DJ!!!! She said that the beach party has a DJ and open bar, on a different section of the beach, but that there can only be one DJ at a time.. sooo my wedding suffers.. .... We are releasing sky lanterns. so i am soo sad that we can't have a dj on the beach for our reception. so now i have NO IDEA what we are going to do. as i need a dj for the dances...
ugh.. i am just soo disappointed and sad. Any advise would be awesome.. cause i am just feeling lost right now.. i mean... a wedding with no dance portion for my friends and family is just not an option for me. i have a first dance.. father daughter dance.. and mother son dance.. how do you do all of this with no friggen DJ?
she did say we could have a cocktail party with a DJ and open bbar etc... but then we would be inside.. and i have the sky lanterns... so i don;t know if that would work.
*sigh*.

My Plan:
Ceremony on the beach with Steel Drum Band
Pictures
Dinner at The Steak house......Does anyone know what time this opens..not having a private reception
Bonfire on the beach + Open Bar + DJ
Off to the Disco
Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight as to whether I will have time to do a all this. How long you were at the restaurant?

I used afloral to get my flowers and although the shipping is pretty high, the flowers really are great! I posted my pics in the Iberostar Rose Hall Thread. I priced out all the main places in Canada and it still worked out to be the cheapest!

Have any of you used any canadian or other providers for realtouch flowers? Any tips are appreciated before I pull the trigger on this order!
It might be worth waiting to do a trip to the US to go to hobby lobby or something.....

Hey could I get a copy too please! I am getting married here in Canada first, so we are just doing the Renewal of Vows ceremony, not sure if it is the same script? Thanks

I am sure if you were okay with writing your own ceremony script etc.. he would read whatever it was that you created.. As when i spoke to Silvia she said that we could of course change it to say whatever we wanted... They have the basic one, and then you can either keep it or change it. I am sure you could change it to be non demonominational... however maybe send an email to Silvia and just ask her if you can get a outside JP or something if you don't want to change the ceremony that already exists ..

Congrats!!! Everything looked amazing!! Did you have a private reception? Which restaurant did you choose? Did you use Tai Flora for flowers? Did you and all your bridesmaids get your hair done at the Spa...were you happy with them? Sorry for all the ???'s lol

Hey....I think the size is perfect for a bridesmaid bouquet, I was happy with how real they look, they are the real touch material, not a fabric/silk material. They are a bit more ivory in colour than what they advertise on there website, I am going to re-do them a bit by adding in the pink lotus flowers. My girls dresses are a bright fuchsia /coral colour so I don't mind a bit of the ivory. They shipped from US to Canada with FedEx, delivered right to the door, no duty tax and within three days.
Would definitely recommend!! Hope this helps!!!

Where did you buy all your starfish from????

I am bringing my own decorations down, however with Jamaica already being beautiful i am not bringing alot... All i am taking down is a few blue seashell candles... i bought some blue(turquoise) organza to decorate the arch, and turquoise chair sashes, and then i bought some large startfish to put on the arch also.. as it is soo much cheaper than buying flowers. from there i have a bunch of small starfish to put on the tables, The resort does include some very basic decorating things for the reception and ceremony, so i will just add my stuff to what they have..it will be simple... but a little extra than just bare tables.. so what i am bringing for decorations will take very little room in my suitcase as it is mostly just seashells and fabric for the most part..

HAIR APPOINTMENTS
I was wondering how far in advance you girls made or are making appointments to get your hair done at the salon. Do we do this with the WC? Or does the spa have a specific email?
Thanks

Just an FYI....I just received my real touch flowers from the website www.afloral.com I received them in three days after ordering! I am extremely happy with them! I have 6 bridesmaids and decided it would cut costs doing real touch bouquets. I ordered 6 pre-made bouquets of pink/white orchids, I ordered 6 bright pink lotus flowers to add into the bouquet. I also ordered two stems of orchids to make boutonnieres for the groomsmen. I ordered a few extra lotus flowers maybe to add to my bouquet. I believe I paid just under $120 (including shipping).

I am sorry I keep asking this question.......just wondering if anyone who got married at the Beach, could give me any details about the huppa? I was wondering if you get to choose between a huppa or an arch, what decor they provide for it, and the size roughly???
Thanks!!!!

Could anyone tell me if the IRHB provides keys or swipe cards.

I am traveling with ACV as well. My TA never mentioned anything about an upgrade to Executive. She said that our entire group would be seated together. I inquired when I first booked about any kind of incentive if you book so many people, and we were told for every 25 people booked the 26th is free. Right now we have 49 people booked, 40 of them with ACV, so we have one trip paid for, which is amazing. My TA told me this is an ACV incentive, I am not sure she would have told me if I had not asked....so it's definitely worth a try!!

I just put in a request to be added to the group!!! That is such a great idea with the starfish!!

I am getting married at the IRHB on Feb. 1, 2012. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the huppa/arch. I have seen pictures of both, do we have a choice or does it just depend on which property you get married at.
Also, do they charge extra if you bring some of your own decorations, for them to set them up?
Thanks!!
