Hi, 

I am thinking about getting married at the El Conquistador in PR this November.  The hotel looks amazing!  Anyone have ideas or general pricing from them?  My ideal setting would be to get married on the cliff with the white pillars and then party on one of the outdoor terraces.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I am currently in kind of the same situation, except that a good friend of mine (she is not my MOH, but is one of my best high school friends and have known each other since 1993!!), is giving me grief! I'm planning a wedding in DR at Paradisus Punta Cana next April. I was originally going to do a different hotel in Jamaica that was very reasonable in price, but something inside of me knew that it wasn't what I wanted. I was originally concerned with the amount of money everyone would have to pay, and wanted to be considerate. Then I found Paradisus, and for a few hundred dollars more per person, my guests would ejoying a luxuriuos vacation! I figured it was worth it, and the hotel had EVERYTHING I wanted in terms of wedding options. So all of my friends are down for the trip, and this one girl is giving me such a headache...she is basically complaining about the cost. I told her, if you think about it, its the same amount of money that i would be spending on your wedding (she is getting married a few months after me). You are saving $350 on a bridesmaids dress that you will never wear again, I dont expect gifts so there is another $300-400 bucks, i am giving up an away bachelorette party, so there is $1000, etc...and best of all -- YOU GET A VACATION OUT OF IT! Anyway, she is asking about only staying 2 nights (friday to sunday) so she can save money. I tried relaying to her that flying on friday is the most expensive, so that doesnt make any sense. She also looked online to compare prices of other hotels! and said that it sux my hotel is double the prices of other hotels...ugh sorry for the long response but im P.O. TOO!!!!!!!

Part of me doesnt even want her to come anymore, why can't she be like my other friends who are super excited? Oh, and did I point out, my friend still lives at home with her parents and that daddy would be paying for her whole trip?? Not sure what all the fuss is about......... UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have papers that I can email you from Paradisus Punta Cana. The most important factor is the number of guests attending, and then figuring out what extra or custom elements you want to add to your wedding.

officially together for almost 6 years when we got engaged, will be almost 7 when we get married. However, we were "unofficial", friends with benefits, on and off again for 4 years prior...We met when I was 19, and I am going on 29 this year. :)

Tami -- I am having my wedding around the same time as you did this year. Do you recommend having the ceremony at 3pm like you did? Or perhaps a little later? Filling out the paperwork now and they are asking me for a preferred slot. The ideal situation is that we get the ceremony out of the way around 3 or 4, have some time for cocktails afterwards, and then off for beautiful sunset pictures.

I had NO IDEA it was that expensive!!!!!!

It looks complicated, but I figured, if other DR brides can do it - so can I! :)

Hello!

I just found out that the date I want to have my wedding in 2009 is available! I am so excited...

In any case, have any past or present Paradisus PC brides have experience with negotiating rates with the WC? I received the "Calculator" from the hotel, and am wondering if these prices are set in stone. I would love to have the fireworks show, but not sure if I am willing to spend $2k for 3 minutes!!!

Just thought I would get everyone’s feedback.

Also, what kind of group rates/discounts did the hotel give you?

Hi! What are your plans for the reception? I'm thinking of doing a private reception outdoors (close to the beach) at RIU Negril. I wish the catering menu was a little better though

I'm planning on gettng married in April 09 at RIU Negril - which is right next door...I'm pretty sure the photographers are the same, so i'd love to see pics too!

I have April 17th '09 reserved for RIU Negril. I originally wanted Tropical Bay but I was told that they can not accomodate a private reception, which is what I want. I have to make my decision soon --this is so stressful! I'm worried about making the wrong decision...

I'm glad to see that someone else is going to be going through the same things as I am, and around the same time.
