Thanks! Good to be here
I like what you've done to the images Ann. Pretty slick!
It's gorgeous down here... give me a ring if you are ever in town.

Hi all!
I'm a destination wedding photographer living in Costa Rica. I came here in '86 and never left... I love this little pice of paradise! I'm passionate about Costa Rica's natural beauty and would love to be your photographer anywhere you get married.
This is a small, full service, boutique wedding photography studio. I personally photograph each and every wedding. We offer a full range of services from online proofing to coffee table albums.
Say you found me on BDW and I'll give you a $25 print credit with your wedding package.

I'm not sure about costs, but I speculate there won't be a huge difference in price as you will be paying for their time to carry out the ceremony and travel expenses.
I've worked with Marcelo Galli and his partner William. Both are very capable and do a nice job.
You can also talk to Einar Villavicencio.
Weddings Costa Rica works with Ana Castro, she's a fabulous officiant... but I think she only works through them.
Good Luck!

Double Post... sorry.

imthepriya, that was the Paradisus Conchal.
It's a nice place and a really nice beach.

My pleasure

Paradisus is also a good choice. My last couple from there were happy with the results.

Brides I've worked with have generally been happy with the services at the Grand Papagayo.
Though, honestly, most resort weddings are pretty repetitive and are all the same. I find it is worth while to go with outside coordination for weddings. Even with small events they can do something special or unique that falls outside of the standard packages offered by most resorts.

Nature Air is popular and I personally prefer their airport in San Jose ...
Another choice is Sansa their planes are a bit bigger and I've heard they are more comfortable.

Sorry... this was posted twice. I just erased one of them.

I've worked at both Costa Verde and Flamingo Beach Resort.
Costa Verde is not on the beach. It's up a mountain and has a spectacular view. If you want to get married on the beach in Mn. Antonio you will have to have hire transportation to get your guests around. This is true for most hotels in the area. This a very hilly town and beach access is not easy from many hotels.
Flamingo is right across the street from the beach and has some awesome sunsests. It is a great beach and not nearly as populated as Mn. Antonio.
Cala Luna and the Diria are both popular places where having a beach wedding would be fairly easy.

My wife and mom are both lifelong hypothyroidic so I know that once you've hit your balance with the meds you will probably lead a perfectly normal life. It's just a matter of finding just right dose.

Hi Jocy, I am a photographer but have picked up a few things about destination weddings... Let's see what I can answer

Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas
Hotel Paradisus Playa Conchal
You can see some of my pictures here: Cala Luna at Playa Langosta
Quote:I also have a question regarding hosting a reception in an all inclusive resort...is it extra for the meals? Is it different food served for the wedding reception than on a normal evening? Quote:Is it necessary to have a wedding planner when you are planning a DW? Do planners charge a % of total cost of a set fee??
Hope it helps,

5pm is standard for destination weddings in Costa Rica. Most civil (legal) ceremonies do not last more than 15-20 minutes and sunset will will vary between 5:45 and 6:05 pm... so there isn't much difference between the longest and shortest days of the year.
A 5pm ceremony allows for a handful of group shots and a nice selection of portraits before it gets too dark. Of course, if you have a large group or you want more than just a few formal group shots then move the ceremony up to 4:30.

Cala Luna is a great little place and still very close to Tamarindo town, so it's quite convenient.
Congratulations, and welcome!
