  1. Hi Jules - fellow Torontoian.

Congratulations!! Your pictures look fantastic. You and Curtis looked great, along with a fabulous wedding party. Glad to see that everyone had such a blast, especially in the TTD session:) Can't wait to see the pro pics. I have been so busy with work lately that I have done nothing regarding the our wedding, so seeing all of these pics just put some more motivation into it!!!

    Cheers,

    S

We are putting one on every other seat and putting bubbles on the other ones, people can decide which one they want to use :)
    Thanks Jules,
    The directions are great:)

  4. My fiancee had won a work trip to the Hyatt and man it was fabulous. I would have loved to have my wedding there however, it is just too far and too expensive for my guests!! But I hope to return for our 1 year anniversary. I have a ton of pictures if anyone is interested in seeing more.

They have a salt water lagoon which is to die for and the Anara spa was marvellous. When you go to the spa make sure you book extra time to hang out around the pool area in the spa it is well worth it and super relaxing and quite. Food was amazing.

If you get a chance to the helicpoter tour it was our hightlight and so well worth. Oh the memories.....

I do not feel I have had to downgrade anything, except the photographer, but as I said before I can better tell you after my wedding (not long nowcheer2.gif) if the quality is all I hope.

I happen to love Mexico though, I don't believe you can go wrong in that choice, happy deciding!
    Hi Kelly,

I saw your post and the dilemma you are having with the photographer. I am in the same boat not sure what to do. I have someone who will shoot for me. He shoots for the CFL, NFL, Maxium Magazine, so he does good work and only wants me to pay for his trip - 1500. However, I am just a bit skeptical as he is going to put everything to disk and we have to print frame and create our own album so that is a lot of work.
I got a qoute from Juan Carlos Tapia photgraphy and for 12 hours in total of shoot he wanted $8000. He does great work but $8000 is soooooooo expensive. So I feel sick on what to do, since I want fabulous pics.
Are you getting the resort to do the video portion of it too??
Do you have direct email to the photographer at all.

  6. Yeah we are getting pretty excited!!! I will be sure to post, asap, and post a review for you. I am pretty particular so if I am happy with how everything at the resort plays out on our wedding day, then you will have nothing to worry about! The cakes look awful at the resort (I hear they taste great though), so I think I am going to just cover it with lot's of flowers LOL

How much planning with the resort have you done yet, have you made any decisions regarding food, drinks, flowers, music, reception, ect.....

    Hi Kelly,

So exciting 27 days till you are married!! I am very excited for you and of course can't wait to see your pictures when you return. Are you using the resort photographer at all, or have you been in direct contact with him. Want him to send me some links to past video' s he has created prior to booking him.

Are you having your reception at La brasa??

So far I have lots already done, chosen colours, all bridal party plus boths sets of parents found their outfits & shoes, cake is picked, flowers well some what picked but I keep changing. I have all centrepieces bought and packed nicely away, decorations for ceremony have in mind.

So for the wedding still being 9 months away I feel good what has been accomplished so far:)

  7. Yes, we chose it for the exact reasons as Deb listed. Also, I liked it cuz it was big enough for our 60 guests but not too big where it everyone can't find each other either.

In all honesty after 3 months of researching, starting in Mexico and ending up in DR . OB was the most reasonable price & had it all from good food, to updated look, to big beach, great activities and lots of bars/restaurants to choose from. But the best was the price point - we started looking at resorts $2800 per person and now our guests are only going to be paying $1275. Very happy I was.

My TA just got back from Ocean Blue and she raved about it. She said it was so much better than she ever imagined.

Good luck TVT with your choice and planning.

    Cheers,

    Sabrina

  8. Okay, so this is how he proposed. He booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico back in the fall and told me he had won a trip. So it has happened before so I never thought anymore of it expect that he had won a trip - as he does win a lot through his work. Anyway, long story short we travelled all day on January 2, 2007. After a 30min cab ride we arrived to the hotel, where there were two bell boys awaiting for our arrival. They handed us champagne as we got out of the cab. I had no idea this was set up just thought this was part of the fancy hotel (oh yes we stayed at the Grand Velas) Anyways, they checked us in and gave us a tour of the hotel grounds. After about 15 minute tour we finally were heading up to the room. While we were in the elevator I noticed that my FH was sweating. I asked him if he was okay...he said yes and I did not think anything of it. We then got to our room where the bell boy was ready to open the room for us, untill my FH quickly tipped him and told him to wait out here while we go see the room first. When I walked into the room I noticed on the table there was rose petals shaped into a heart with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. I had said wow, this hotel is great..look how they greet us. Duh me not thinking. Then I took a look outside on our balcony and saw there was more rose petals..I could not believe. My FH then said come here...u have to see the room. SO when I walked into the room there was roses & rose petals all over the bed. As I got closer I noticed the rose petals were words and as I got even closer i notice it said "Sabrina will you marry mehuh.gif" Then he gave his little speech got down on one knee and proposed. Asking me if I would accept the rose & this ring. ( which I have attached) I was in so much shock that - alls I could say was "are u for real" (I said this 4 times) then I finally laughed, cried and of course started screaming as my dream had come true. After that we had cracked the champagne and celebrated. He then had told me that our friends were going to be coming to the resort as well for the week and it was great to have them share this special week with us. I have attached a few pics. for you to see. I had no idea he was so romantic.smile159.gif

  9. Hi All,

My name is Sabrina and just got engaged 3 weeks ago!!! YEAH!! I am so excited. We just had a surprise engagement party that was planned for us this past Friday - which was fantastic. We are looking at going to the Mayan Riveria and it looks like next April 2008. I have done a lot of research on resorts and I think the Barcelo Mayan Colonial resort is where we are going to book. But still wanting to do a little more research to see if there is anything else that we like. So if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Other than the place I am very overwhelmed with everything else that is left to do - so any advice would be awesome.
