Hi I was hoping someone can help me! I leave on Sunday to the Barcelo Palace, I am getting married at the Gazebo like in the pictures above but have no idea where it is, what restuarant is it close too? My dinner is supposed to be at the Palmeras Grill, is this anywheres near the Gazebo? Thanks in advance if anyone can give me any insight!!

Hi Everyone! I'm for the Edmonton Area and my fiancé and I are waiting to hearing back on availability for January 30, 2013 at the Barcelo Maya Colonial and Barcelo Maya Palace! We haven't decided yet if we will go with only the Colonial or have our guests choose to stay at either the Colonial or Palace. Happy Planning!!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Originally we were chose the Colonial due to the fact that it was the right price point for our guest. And I didn't want to ask the guests to pay the Palace prices as I know that will turn some people off. That's why I decided to let my guests choose wherever they want to stay, whether its the Colonial or Palace. But I am wondering are the resorts literally in walking distance of each other? (Any map of the resorts I looked at makes it look like the Colonial is more central and the Palace is off to the side, so I can't right an exact idea of how close they are) Also, is there anyone out there, that has done it this way, did it make things difficult, having your guests get a day pass to get to get into the Palace? I just want to make the right decision, and I'm finding it really hard to do so.

Hi Everyone! I am just new to this forum. And in the early stages of planning. Currently my TA is checking on wedding availability at the Barcelo Colonial. I apoligize in advance if this question has already been asked somewhere in the past 200+ posts/threads. My TA suggested that what some couples do is stay at the Barcelo Palace and have their guests stay at the Colonial. That way you still get that feeling of a honeymoon, are able to have alone time, but can still meet up with guests at the other available restaurants, pools etc. Has anyone done this? Were you guests upset that you were staying at a separate "resort" that they couldn't enter? I am getting some harsh feedback that I am considering staying at the Palace which is private and the guests at the colonial. Am I the only one to think there shouldn't be anything wrong with this? It is my understanding that Colonial guests cannot use the facilities of Palace but Palace guests can use all facilities of Colonial, etc etc. My TA said that, on the day of the wedding, my guests would get special permission to enter the Palace facilities/ceremony site whatever. If anyone can give me some feedback, that would be super!
