  3. Super excited for you leaving tomorrow and can't wait to hear all about your wedding. I'm sure it's going to be amazing! Fingers crossed for perfect weather while you're in Mexico! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Great review! And no worries about being late on your review, I still haven't done mine yet and I've been married almost 2 months now!!! Your pictures look amazing and it seems like everyone had so much fun. Glad everything went well and that you got time for just the two of you after everyone left. Being "on" and spending all day every day with other people was definitely more draining than I realized. Hope married life is treating you well
  5. Happy wedding day!! Hope it was everything you hoped for and more. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get home! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We used the resort MC (his name was Viko) because we didn't have anyone that was "MC material" coming to the wedding and I'm so glad we did. He was worth his weight in gold. I think the cost for him was about $$80-$100 Canadian for the night, but I can check my paperwork tonight when I get home and confirm. The price wasn't too much, and he made the reception a success. There was not a single moment during my 4 hour reception where people weren't dancing and it was because of him. He was out there leading the charge, and yet not forcing people to dance (I hate when people do that). My husband and I thought he was so great that we added him on facebook and went to see his band play in Playa del Carmen during our honeymoon. Can't recommended him enough!
  7. We brought our own photographer (didn't tip her) so only tipped Aranza, the DJ, the MC and the wait staff. I'm trying to remember, but I think we gave Aranza about $150 US to split amongst the staff that worked that night. In hindsight I wish we had tipped more - they were all honestly amazing and made the wedding 1000% perfect. Our guests were tipping the bartenders too, so that made me feel a bit better, lol.
  8. Hi Ladies - wondering if any dates are floating around for another meetup? I missed the last one and miss you all - it's been a few months since I last saw you! I know we wanted to have another meetup before Ashley leaves for her wedding, which only gives us a few weeks. I'm free May 20th and June 3rd (possibly May 27th if that's the consensus, but I'm likely moving that day and Jesse might disagree if I leave to go drinking, lol).
  9. Amazing picture! So jealous of your tan right now too, lol. Enjoy your last few days, they're going to fly by. Can't wait to hear all about it when you get home [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. @@JoannaBanana I bought a flower stem with 3 flowers on it from the dollar store, cut the flowers off and used that to decorate my cake. But you could likely re-use some of the ceremony flowers to decorate it as well. For the flower petals, I agree with Kim - my niece only used about 1/4 of the flowers. Your two flower girls can easily split one bag. For table numbers, I have some that I didn't end up using for my reception that you could use (we just let people sit wherever they wanted). My husband is not happy that the table numbers are still in the house and I'd love to give them to someone from the forum! I'll send you a PM with a picture of them and dimensions tonight after work. For reception centerpieces, I just re-used the flowers from the gazebo that come with the wedding package. I had two bridesmaids, so their bouquets were used for the cake table. We had a sweetheart table - the flowers for that were the ones that sit on the table during the ceremony. I had Aranza take apart the rest of the flowers from the gazebo and she put them in vases they already had on hand as centerpieces. Here's a picture of the cake with the $1 flowers on it. In hindsight, I would have used ceremony flowers from the gazebo so the colour matched better, but it looked good enough as is. Here is my ceremony setup so you can see the flowers in their original state: Here's the sweetheart table with the gazebo centerpiece on it: And finally, here's a shot that shows one of the guest table centerpieces using the vases from GS (free) and the flowers from the gazebo: Apologies for the quality of the photos - these were all guest captures and I'm going to use the excuse that they had been drinking already by this point, lol. Hope this helps!
  12. Gah, I'm falling behind on everyone's threads! You've done such a great job so far, everything is coming together beautifully and your to do list is looking very manageable. You got this! If you want to borrow a travel steamer instead of buying one, I have mine that I bought for our wedding. It works great - just let me know! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Everything looks and sounds great so far! Can't wait to read the rest of your review [emoji3] Apparently this means I need to start on mine as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. We've been using pesos exclusively on the trip as the exchange rate is much better. A few of our guests used USD only, which is fine too but you get better bang for your buck with pesos. When a local tells you something costs $X in US or $Y in pesos the exchange rate they are using is terrible if you pay in USD. We did hair and makeup at the spa for myself and two bridesmaids and it turned out perfectly. We started at noon and finished at about 2:30pm (wedding was at 5pm). There are only two ladies working there, so I would budget a conservative 2 hours for every 2 people getting hair and makeup done. I'm currently getting eaten alive by mosquitoes in Playa del Carmen, but didn't get bit much on resort. I know a few people who got a few bites so I would bring some bug spray, but I don't think you need a ton.
