I say add what you both want.. But buy selecting Kohl's or target, or another full retail store, you could keep it all under. One registry.... But then again, best buy has ovens, fridges, and other big appliances...

@@Danamarielouise I got confirmation from the spa that they will not take appointments until 2-3 months before. For me that is unfair. There are two other weddings that day... What if I get stuck with a crappy slot, ie way too early?? Not too happy about not knowing whether I will get time slots I want for spa and salon.. but I am not going to worry about it now... I will focus on.. the dress... been dress shopping this weekend... omg... why did i wait so long.. i feel the pressure is on bigtime. @@tbg0819 The highest package, the Divine package is for 25- beyond that there is a per person fee for everything. liquor as well during the cocktail hour, toast, and I do not recall about the reception. As I started to do the math, I was apprehensive about having sent out 100 Save the Dates. I am hoping I max out at 50-60.... we'll see.

I've just confirmed my contract for Now 8.22.2015. I am bummed that all that was available for the ceremony slot was 3:00pm. It seems too early for beach ceremony... But, I am happy that I made my selection, have my site up and running for the guests to book, and now I can finally focus on the theme, and saving money! So I travel to the DR throughout the year and November Thanksgiving week is expensive but after labor day through 2/3rd week of November is the winding down season... then it picks up for december holidays. Please note that because it is considered the low season, many resorts do their renovations, additions, construction and remodeling around this time. It is cyclical so, they do not do renovations every year, but just be mindful of this possibility. Fall in the DR is beautiful. You should be able to get prices under $1500 if you do that hard leg work like Jamie said. Good luck.

I am hoping for the same thing. Things will fall into place. I am willing to pay a little more to have hotel cover more of the decorations. I started doing the math and if I purchase and travel with some of the extras, it only ends up saving me less than $200 compared to the current quotes from the resort. Peace of mind and less bags to travel with is worth $200..I have seen some brides on this site suggest sharing decorations if you dont mind another's color scheme... Not sure how practical that is for me. I do like the idea of adding my personal touch... just got to keep it simple. good luck in your planning as the months pass by.. I have selected my resort, my site is up for reservations, so now, on to decorations and theme..

Not sure how to phrase this but I want to know if I could coordinate and contract with the hotel myself for the group reservation discount? It is not only about cutting the middle man out but because I am paying for a good number of the rooms myself (grand parents, grand aunts, unemployed best friends, etc) I feel like I can handle this part... it will give me something to do at this early stage in prep. Anyone handle the reservation part on their own?? or am I just begging for trouble?

I just spent over 2 hours reading this entire topic.. 8 pages or so. This has been so helpful to thing about things I need to do to cut down costs... I am on 8.22.2015- I chose August because the prices a little cheaper outside of wedding season and end of summer. I've been going to the DR in August for about 4 years and luckily have had no major weather issues. For those with more than the 20 guests per the packages, how much more has it been per person for each stage... that is where I feel the add ons become crazy.. ie more chairs at ceremony= more $, more people for the cocktail hour, semi private dinner, and the reception..
