  1. What order are you doing things at your reception? For example dinner first, then party or dancing mixed in between courses? something else? With only 3 hours, I feel like I really have to be productive with my time. Juan Carlos suggested all of the meal upfront and then all dancing (besides first dance) afterwards, but I feel like that will then take forever until guests can actually do anything. Here's what we were thinking: Entrance First Dance Two dance songs for everyone Serve appetizer father/daughter dance Serve salad mother/son dance toast Serve dinner cake cutting dancing
  2. @@racht33 I honestly don't remember and can't find it in my email. I'm sorry! But google cheap chair bows, wedding chair bows, chiffon chair bows....stuff will come up. I got chiffon ones (satin may be more expensive) and I noticed at full price they're about a $1 or so. Even that's a great deal though when you compare it to what they charge. EVERYTHING was like that - cold fireworks from the resort - $400, through the DJ - $100. I incorporated lanterns into my centerpieces. I bought them for $11/each on Amazon. The resort would rent me 8 for $250 (I need 4). Yes, it's going to be a pain to get all this stuff there, but I think it's well worth it given the savings.

I have a 3 hour reception and want to make the best use of the time. 4. @@DinaQtobe We are paying $600 for the DJ. But I forgot about the vendor fee which is $300 that the resort charges. So $900 total. Still cheaper than the resort's DJ though.
  5. @@racht33 that's great! Dreams and Now are both owned by AmResorts, so I'm sure there will be lots of similarities! My advice is to bring as much of your own stuff as you can because that is where they will get you. For example, we bought our own chair bows for about 60 cents each on sale. The resort charges a $1/bow labor fee. However, if you get chair bows from them they are $5/each. Happy planning!!!
  6. @@racht33 we are getting married next month at Now Sapphire. We have had an excellent planning experience and the value is terrific. It is also a very pretty resort. I had looked at Azul too. While the food is better than now sapphire (and now's is pretty good) and there is def a more boutique feel, we didn't like being nickel and dimed. Plus I didn't like that we were obligated to use their vendors. They advertise that they only do two or three (I can't remember which) weddings per day when you speak to them, but when you go on the lomas website I found in very small print that they will do up to one per hour. While we were there we saw two receptions taking place at the same time, just a few hundred feet apart. You could hear one wedding's music from the other wedding's spot. 7. @@lornj29 I think it is perishable items like fruit that you have to be concerned with. We are taking bags of candy with us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Check out edventure tours. They're fantastic and very reasonable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. @@lornj29 our welcome bag has a tote/beach bag (vistaprint), sunglasses, Swedish fish (bc we met on plenty of fish), sunscreen. Our hangover kit has Advil, tums and emergen c. 10. @@ashlynm88 it was very nice. We didn't like the distance from the airport (1.5 hours) and they wedding dept wasn't flexible with making changes. Now sapphire (owned by the same company) is a better value. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yes. We met on Plenty of Fish. We chatted through the site then that led to a few weeks of texting, then a phone call and then a date. We hit it off on our first date! It was supposed to only be lunch but we ended up ditching our family plans and spent the entire afternoon together. At the end of the date, he asked me how I felt about being exclusive. I figured he was sweet and I had nothing to lose so said sure. We were nearly inseparable after that. We moved in together 2 months later and 10 months into our relationship got engaged. We will have been together for about 2 years when we get married next month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. We are using disco Movil. Good experience thus far but you can also check the reviews section on this site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. What is everyone doing as far as the order of their reception? Juan Carlos had suggested all of the food first and then dancing afterwards, vs mixing the two together. I also feel like for a 3 hour reception you need to make the best use of time.
  14. @@Ashleyg280 we are doing a brunch at home about six weeks after our wedding. We will use our day in Mexico as our anniversary. We are trying to focus on Actually getting married in NY just business so it doesn't feel like we have two dates. We aren't even bringing our real rings with us.
