  1. My fiancee and I are getting married on March 1, 2014, in Cozumel, Mexico, as that is our favorite place in the world. My mom just went through a stint of radiation, and chemo for her breast cancer...after a partial mastectomy. My parents will be in Clearwater, Florida when we get married. My parents...who my dad, worked hard everyday of his life, had to retire early from being a New York State Corrections Officer as he encounter several heart attacks. My mother, who is a diabetic, has Melanoma (skin cancer), had brain surgery several years ago, worked as a house cleaner for doctors and lawyer. To keep herself busy she volunteers at our local fire company in the Ladies Auxiliary, and also works as an Election Inspector come voting time. My mom has done all sorts of odd jobs (she also caters!!! She is a great cook) after her job shut down at a drug rehabilitation center. After my parents paid for the co-pays, medications and various trips daily to and from chemo/radiation for my mom's recent encounter with breast canceer, my parents funds seemed to be tapped out. A month ago, they got a call, that their mobile home in Clearwater, had a flood (the pipe broke) and everything had to be taken out and re-done. They had to go on their instincts to trust (and pay) someone down there to do the work, as my mom's doctors were all up here and they could not make a trip down there to asses the damage. To add to the stress, they had no insurance to cover it, as no insurance company would pick it up. Is there anything out there to help with my parents come and see me get married? Discount airline tickets (they will be in Clearwater, Florida)...shuttle airlines that go to Cozumel? Discount hotels? Anything? I would love my parents to be there and so would they. Thank you for any information!!
  2. Hi, We are getting married in Cozumel, February 2014, and currently have a wedding coordinator, BUT am finding that our price just keeps going up for the 16 of us. We are currently paying $150 per person JUST for one meat, one side and 4 apps. Almost $7,000 for 16 people for the beach ceremony and reception (with everything from plates, glasses, etc)...which is alot of money. We are tossing the idea of getting married on the beach (maybe at our resort when we get there, get a minister), and then have a reception at a restaurant. Or if anyone has a suggestion for a wedding coordinator, just to tie things up, that would be great also. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated. Cozumel Staying Feb. 26-Mar. 5 Wedding Date: Feb. 28. (week of CARNAVAL also)
  3. Hello everyone. I was told by my wedding coordinator that we could have the blood tests done here in the states and have the results sent/ or brought with us. Is that true, as I have searched the internet and only found one site that said that we can do that. Any suggestions on how to lower the cost of a legal/civil wedding? Can we do the leg work ourselves, ex. send the copies of the passport, hire the priest/minister, translate the blood work results, have the certificates Fed Ex back to the state (which was stated $150). Every website has different prices for each of these....blood work from (150-$250 per person, plus have the doctor look and translate the results ($200)...Yikes!!! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Granted, our hotel has a coordinator also to do this, but it is almost a grand to do.
