I have a great photographer from home whom I'm willing to fly out. Her cost is $1600 + flight and room. She has done a photo shoot with us before. We have mutual friends so she somewhat knows our personalities. We would have her form the entire wedding day, + the pay prior at the resort. I thinks this is a GREAT deal but the fiancé is questioning if we can find cheaper in PC. I love Katya Nova's work $2800 (starting) but this is for two photographers I think (her& her hubby). Total cost is relatively the same so here is the issue... -1 photographer vs. 2 -2photgrathers for 1 day vs. 1 photographer for a few days -More pics during the wedding vs. more candid's over the course of the trip. what would you all do??? We are also considering adding a videographer. Any suggestions of good/affordable work? I want the trailer style. Also, I have not reached out to Kayta, if any of you have used her & Rob, plz give me some insight on what is included in the $2800. Last thing, If JF is booked, I'm looking at Huracan Café as an option. Anyone look into that venue? I have seen pic from one wedding. Sry sooooo many questions. I've booked a photographer in the DR. 2 photographers for the whole day for around $1500. http://weddingphotographypuntacana.wordpress.com/ I met with them in June and I LOVE their energy and their work. They also know a lot about Huracan and Jellyfish so they can steer you in the right direction. I'll email you the information that I have for Jellyfish. I was there in June. GREAT place. Also, Mayte is dealing with a death in her family at the moment so she may take a while to reply to emails. She is truly amazing and takes each wedding very seriously so don't worry... she'll be in touch.
  2. $6000 sounds really good! If you don't mind sharing... did you do open bar for cocktail hour? and how many hours open bar did you do for the reception? The bar is what seems to eat up a lot of the cost
  3. 30 minute ceremony (according to the pastor) and the cocktail hour will likely be an hour if the photographer can get all shots in that time. so between the 2 let's say 2 hours to be safe.
  4. Congratulations! I have a question regarding timing. How many hours did it take to get from the walk down the aisle to the dance floor? Just trying to figure out how many hours I'll need my photo/video crew for. I'm thinking I'll start my ceremony at 5 and be finished dinner by 9:30. realistic?
  5. Thanks! Do you have his info by chance? I googled but didn't find anything
  6. Hello, I'll be having a symbolic ceremony in Punta Cana. Does anyone know of a French speaking officiant? Preferably bilingual French/English. I've contacted an English speaker pastor that says he'll be happy to work with someone to make things bilingual but I think it would be a bit clumsy having two people officiating. I rather have one person speak both languages.
  7. I did a breakdown and I'm not saving. At the hotel (Bahia) I'd pay $7000 for about 30-40 guests but I'd be stuck with limited meal options, restrictions on locations to have the ceremony and receptions, restrictions on day of week and time of day of the ceremony, extra fees to bring in an outside dj or photographer... tons of fine print. I'm estimating $9500 at Jellyfish for a completely customized experience for a very important event. By the looks of it my decor, cake, DJ, food, photographer etc will be better at Jellyfish. That $9500 includes a photographer and videographer, DJ w MC, open bar etc and tons of privacy and intimacy which is priceless.
  8. I've been using the 2012 price list to estimate... and for 40 ppl, gold open bar, $45pp dinner, fire dancers, cocktail hour, Dj etc I'm looking at about $7500-8000. with photog and video my estimate came to just under $9500. so I think it would be possible for under $10k. I'm hoping to tweak a few things and spend $10k including invites and gifts. we'll see how that goes. the wedding coordinator for jellyfish seems to be busy so I'm going to call her and request a formal quote this week so I can take a break from planning. I have lots of time though. June 2014 but I want to lock in my date so I can print my save the dates.
  9. Hello, Lots of threads on this restaurant but I'm hoping to gather some info on pricing without sifting through 181 pages Can anyone share the following? Number of Guests - Meal Selection/Guest - ie. the $35 option, $45 option etc Amount of Appetizers- Type of open Bar - ie. International/National/ Fees paid for Decor and other services acquired from Jellyfish - TOTAL PAID TO JELLYFISH - I know the DJ portion could either be paid to Jellyfish or an outside DJ. And i know the Photog/Video would be separate. I'm trying to figure out how much would be left in the budget after Jellyfish gets their portion. THANKS! GREATLY APPRECIATED
  10. Where did you do the reception off the resort? I'm considering doing everything at Jellyfish. Reception and Wedding. Trying to gather more info though.
  11. Thanks! very helpful and comforting. I'm considering Palladium as well. But I was there 2 years ago and the staff was really rude. The trains took forever to come by. Were things ok for your wedding?
  12. Hello, I'm planning a June 2014 wedding at Bahia in Punta Cana. With Transat Holidays in Canada I'm able to get a package that costs $1500 and covers all the basics plus some extras. I'm just wondering what anyone else has experienced with regards to extra costs associated with their weddings in the DR? DJ? Extra for a better cake? Extra for more pics/video? Extra for better decor? Extra for Bar/Private Dinner? I want to make sure my $10k budget isn't unreasonable. Thanks!
