  1. Thanks! I ended up going with Maracas Mexico in the end.
  2. Hi Ladies, Just wanted to check in quickly so say that I just got back from my wedding at the Now Amber yesterday and is a was a HUGE SUCCESS! I'll post a detailed review for all of you soon, but the Coles notes are this: everyone LOVED the resort, Edith is a doll, the wedding went off without a hitch, the location was gorgeous. We had about 60 people. Total dream wedding. Ahhh...me and the hubs are totally blessed out about it.
  3. We are going to do maracas as wedding favors for our Puerto Vallarta wedding next month. We have a few options for getting the maracas: - Buy through the hotel at $5-8/piece. Pretty spending and not the best looking designs, but the most convenient. - Buy in advance online and bring to Mexico with us. $1-4/piece and any choice of design you want. Less "authentic" and very inconvenient to dedicate so much packing space to 60 maracas. - Buy while in Mexico, down on the tourist strip. No idea on pricing, style, or quantity available. More of a gamble, but probably more of an adventure and likely best combination of price and convenience. Has anyone done this before? What do you think?
  4. Has anyone got quotes on the cost of hair & make up at the resort? I assumed I would use the resort but I just realized there are no prices listed on the website so now I'm bracing myself for another price gouge. I'm starting to get really annoyed with how insanely over pieced everything is. Not that I had the time (planned the whole thing in a rush) but I wish I'd had time to shop around a little and get a better sense of what the extra costs would be. Sheesh. It sucks to pay SO MUCH MORE than I would pay for the same things at home.
  5. If you get a copy of it can you send it my way? I'm so frustrated that I can't get a copy of this.
  6. Symbolic for us sine a legal wedding in mexico is a pain in the butt.
  7. I'm not getting a dance floor - I think it's unnecessary. And I'll agree - i've found EVERYTHING to be expensive at the Now Amber. Sicne we just did my sisters wedding last year we've got a good basis for comparison to our local market (Vancouver, BC which is not known for being cheap). I'd say pretty much everything costs just as much at the Now as it would at home. Oh well, ultimately we still save money since there are going to be so many fewer people there...but it's still really expensive!
  8. heidimarie - whaaa??? They only quoted you $70/head per extra person for the buffet? I'm going with that since we ended up being more than 50 people and Edith quoted me $85...what the heck, am I getting ripped off?
  9. lmah - it's just way too early to look for that time frame. The prices will come down. Where are you coming from? All of my guests seemed to be able to go for between 1000-1500 for 6-7 night (this includes flight, hotel based on double occupancy, and all taxes). We were coming from all over the western USA and from Vancouver.
  10. Well so far it looks like I'll be the first of us! I'll make sure to post a follow up after the wedding in May. I haven't been to the resort before, but when we were choosing resorts my parents were in PV so they visited a few and the NOW took their breath away. They said that if we were having it anywhere it had to be the NOW. My parents aren't easy to please, so I've got a lot of confidence that it'll be gorgeous. I've also heard only great things about the food, which is of primary important in my opinion. So far planning with Edith is going well. She's responsive. I will say I"m a bit disappointed with the menu options - I mean $95/head for a three course meal? (We're going with the Divine package as well but we'll be adding about 25 extra people). I"m going to try to negotiate to see if I can get a fourth course added for that price (soup, salad, main, dessert). Right now it looks like we'll plan to do the ceremony under the gazebo thing and the reception on the poolside deck (between the pool and the beach). Ladies - has anyone figured out what they are going to do for a photographer?
  11. I swear I can't find ANYONE who's been/is getting married at Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta. Is there anyone out there? I've booked my wedding at Now Amber for May 2013! Fingers crossed that it's wonderful, but I'd love to hear from someone who has experience.
