  1. Another one who got an insane price from DB with the first dress I picked out. I ended up ordering a knock-off online, and took it to a local seamstress for alterations totaling $85.00. Definitely find someone local, check Yelp.com for reviews or ask friends for a recommendation. Oh, and my dress was ready in 2 weeks with one fitting after a week.
  2. I wore a strapless bra for extra push-up even though I had cups sewn into my dress. I also ordered a pair of cute boy shorts that said "Mrs K...., established March, 2013". I flashed DH during pics after the ceremony, the photographer got a cute photo of the wording on the boy shorts. That pic wasn't included in our slideshow .
  3. I have had eyelash extensions on and off for the past couple of years, and had a new set put on for my wedding last month in Mexico. Now I'm keeping them, they're just so wonderful! It cuts my makeup time in half in the mornings without having to put on coats of mascara. I won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon!

  5. I posted a while back about how pleased I was with my dress from DHGate seller beautybride. I thought I'd post pictures from my actual wedding in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The dress was amazingly well-made and after our ceremony, we went into town for dinner and dancing and I received a TON of compliments on it! It was perfect for the aqua blingy shoes I wore. Here's the image on DHGate: Here are some pictures of our wedding day:

  7. Wow, I haven't updated this in a while! So much has happened. Yesterday we got married at the courthouse . It was much better than I thought it would be, the judge cracked some jokes, we both said our heartfelt "I do"s and we had a wonderful afternoon and night afterwards. Here we are at the courthouse, in front of the adult probation department : My flowers arrived today, they look so amazing!! I picked my dress up from the seamstress today, I'm so happy with it!! She added a hook at the top of the back so that it's easier for zipping. It needs steamed, but I'm going to take it and have that done once we get to the island. We leave in 8 days, and we're pretty much all set. I have my nail, pedi, and eyelash appointment the day before we leave. The kennel has our reservation for our puppy, Julio, we're going to miss him so much, but he'll be well-taken care of. The photographer and ceremony are both paid for, and I'm working out the final details with the restaurant for dinner afterwards. We're getting so close!!
  8. We're flying next week, so no personal experience yet. I'm going to carry my dress on and ask at the gate if I can put it in the first class closet. Or if they'll even lay it flat in an overhead bin. From everything I have read, most airlines are very accommodating with this, I'm hoping that's true. An upgrade to first class would be nice, too .
  9. Thank you, csho! With the jewelry and shoes, I wanted something simple, but still "me" .
  10. Thank you!! I'm so excited to have my first fitting on Friday! I know it will make a huge difference having it zipped. I can't believe I get to wear it in 16 days for real!
  11. I was the same way, I only have a MOH, and I told her that it didn't matter to me what she wore. Whatever she wanted was fine with me. She kept pressing me, so I finally suggested maybe a color to blend with my colored shoes and necklace. I also knew it was a color family that would look amazing with her skin tone and hair color, so we shopped online together for a dress that she liked and found a fantastic convertible dress online at Target for $29. As a MOH or bridesmaid, I can see where a little guidance in the way of a color or at least color family would be helpful.
