  1. We didn't have to pay for the DJ with the wedding, and we did the "free" one, so we had the microphone and had the speaker. Jenny told me it was included. The DJ used our CD (or iPod, I'm not sure, DH handled that part) to play the music we wanted too. They let us keep the speaker for the rest of the evening to use for dinner music and for our bonfire on the beach. We had a small group and it was only one speaker so maybe that is why, but it worked just fine for us. We also didn't decide it until we got there - we just talked about it during our planning meeting.
  2. Hi FutureMrsC - I got them from skylanterns.us. Every single one of them worked - no duds in the bunch. I was happy with them. Not the cheapest, but I felt most comfortable with them.
  3. I was wondering about streaming too, but I never asked the wedding coordinators. Have you found anything out? What kind of equipment would you need? I was toying with the idea of just doing a Skype or FaceTime call on my iPad. Not great quality, but they can watch the video later too.
  4. Eeek! One week from tomorrow is our wedding, we leave in THREE days! I still don't have the contract from Yanna. I am not worried though. As long as we're on the beach and the officiant is there, and our small group of guests, nothing else really matters. I am going to do my own hair & makeup. I have been experimenting off and on for a few months now, and I really just want him to recognize me when I walk down the aisle. :-) Question for you that have been there - did you use the music they provided for the ceremony? How was it? What was the song used at the end of the ceremony with the champagne toast? We have some songs selected for the ceremony that we want to use, but haven't found an upbeat, celebratory one for the end yet. Any suggestions? We're using Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" for the entrance, and "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton for our ring warming ceremony. We'll use "Dream Big" by Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band when we do our sky lantern release after dinner.

  6. Welcome Stephanie! I went with the less expensive package because I'm only having 7 guests, and wouldn't be using some of the things offered in the more expensive ones. I decided on HDC photography after reading some reviews here and comparing packages. I think you get a little more for the money with HDC and probably some of the others. In terms of quality - I haven't really heard anything bad, it just sounds like what's included in the wedding package is pretty basic and if you want anything added on it gets pricey. I also heard that the printed photos were not really on high quality photo paper - I think I read that in one of the previous reviews. I can relate to your "lazy bride" statement. I am taking the same approach. I really don't feel the need to dictate every detail of the decorations, etc. Maybe it's because it's my second marriage, maybe because I've grown up a bit (only 13 years!) since the last one.
  7. Thanks for all the info, Jessicalynneh and Vancouver Bride! We are not planning to do a cocktail reception. We are only going to have 7 guests and they are going to want to follow us around and take pictures anyway, I think. We are just going to pick a bar to congregate at before dinner, I think. We are doing dinner on the beach - for those that have - how is the lighting after sunset? I requested some tiki torches and candles on the table, but I didn't give any specifics other than to use the "altar" centerpiece as the dinner table centerpiece. We thought about the wedding gazebo for dinner - how far is the main white gazebo from the rustic beach gazebo? It looks like it's all the way across the resort.
  8. Wow, sorry for the multiple posts, my browser was acting up and I don't know how to remove them!
  9. Welcome azua617. I felt the same. You can find some info right on the website that explains the packages available and the costs. It's hard to get a price for all the add-ons before you book. The WCs will send you the brochures that have some of those prices, if you send me your email addy in a PM, I will email what I received to you. I would recommend working with them to set your date before you book your travel. I thought we had ours confirmed and then it ended up having to shift a day. The WCs usually take a week or two to respond, and I actually ended up calling the resort at first. There's a lot of info in this and other threads, it can feel a little overwhelming. But really, the moral of most of the stories is not to worry, it will all be perfect in the end. Good luck to you!

  13. Happy Holidays everyone! I hope that, however you celebrate, that you enjoy your time. 11 weeks from today is our wedding! I feel like I should be doing more, but I don't really know what more to do. So, I'm just going to relax and enjoy after some pretty hectic time at work and at home. Dress is picked out, paperwork is ready to be sent in for translation & certification, photographer has been selected. Still a few things to do, but I'm really liking this low maintenance destination wedding thing so far! "See" you all in the new year!
  14. How is the sand at the beach gazebo? Is it soft enough to walk/stand barefoot or in barefoot sandals for the wedding?
