  1. hi all, i was hoping someone could give me some recommendations for photographers? i've been doing a little research online but haven't found too much and would love to hear from past/current brides about their photographers and experiences ) thanks ladies! also, i'm going to Punta Cana next week for a friend's wedding at the hard rock and i have made an appointment to meet with Mayte at The Jellyfish. i will take tons of pictures to post on my profile/facebook when i return. i, of course, plan on asking her hundreds of questions, so if anyone has any questions they would like me to ask or info to find out... let me know, it would be my pleasure! once i'm back i'll post answers/info here and if you'd like pictures just message me ) -bee
  2. ellie0717 - my fiance and i plan to be legally married locally before and we would like a symbolic ceremony in the DR, when i mentioned this to Mayte she gave me the contact info for a Pastor York; i believe other brides on here have used him. i haven't gotten in touch with him yet, my fiance and i are 2 different religions so we definitely want something that isn't religion based. we are considering having a friend perform it but not sure yet. if you find out any more info, please share if you don't mind to all jellyfish brides - my fiance and i would like to surprise our guests with having the wedding at the jellyfish. our plan was to pick a resort near the jellyfish and have that info in our invites and then on the day of wedding just have everyone meet 30 mins before the shuttle arrives in the lobby. then they would find out the wedding is actually off resort. has anyone else suprised their wedding guests with the jellyfish? if so, how did you do it? thanks ladies!
  3. Hi ladies, I'm so happy, my fiance and I just confirmed/reserved our date with Mayte December 30, 2013!! MissyBee - i just asked Mayte about possibly getting a steel drum band for my ceremony and cocktail hour. I know that there have been some brides on here that have mentioned Mayte was able to organize a steel drum band for them and it had been around $250.00 for an hour. I just sent her an e-mail asking so if you're interested in something like that, I'll definitely let you know when she sends me info. Does anyone know if the little shells that are on the menus and place cards and table numbers come from Mayte or if those were brough by the brides. AquaCait, I know you mentioned you brought the mini starfish, but do you know if Mayte had the little shells available? Thanks!!
  4. so i've been in touch with Mayte about possible dates, and i'm so excited to possibly have my wedding at the Jellyfish! i have some questions about the decorations... i've seen a lot of beautifully decorated reception tables at Jellyfish with tons of little details. The decorations (other than real flowers) such as shells, starfish, glass pebbles, menus with the little details, the place cards, little napkin details, etc... are these items all included in the $500.00 reception decoration fees? what about the large lanterns that several brides used for the dance floor space? how about the decor for during the ceremony, like the candles along the aisle and the lanterns on the wedding canopy? Included in the ceremony decoration fee? what about table numbers... if i'm thinking of just doing basic picture frames with the #s, is that something she could do or is it easier just to bring my own? also, i like the idea of attaching my place cards to large starfish, would Mayte be able to supply the starfish or is that something that i would have to purchase on my own? Thanks for your help ladies... i'm sure as time goes on i'll have more and more questions
  5. hi all, so i am super new to this but it was from this forum that i found out about the jellyfish in the first place so i had to join! my fiance and i got engaged just a few weeks ago and we have always talked about a destination wedding. i have been googling punta cana resorts but just didn't like the feel i got from the large resort weddings. when i found out about the jellyfish i fell in love and e-mailed them right away. we are looking for late 2013 or 2014 wedding date (dates are very flexible, which seems to be helpful since the jellyfish is so popular). i would love to hear more from jellyfish brides and see as many pictures as possible from real brides/weddings. for now the big thing is figuring out date options and then getting a rough estimate for what we have in mind... the biggest thing i'm stumped on is color theme; so if anyone has had their wedding already at the jellyfish i would love to see the colors you chose! thanks everyone
