  1. Is there anyone out there still who has any advice on a wedding at Ladera Resort? I am not having good luck speaking to their wedding coordinator(s). It seems like they are in transition, because I keep talking to several different people and they all have different answers. Not only that, but when I asked for a proposal that included pricing for everything, they just sent me the cost to rent out all of the rooms, not anything about food or alcohol. This has been going on for nearly 2 months! I know they have a different approach to these things in the Carribean, but this is getting very frustrating. I don't want to book my wedding there only to find out they changed their mind on something later. It seems that even if I have it in writing, they contradict themselves.
  2. I just heard about the day pass also, $120 is ridiculous, so I guess the ONLY option is for guests to stay at the resort. I am becoming more and more discouraged the more fine print I find. I was not aware until recently that they do not perform weddings on the weekends?! What's the point then? I have families with children planning to attend and we will be getting married in February or March when the kids are in school, so we were hoping for a weekend wedding. Not to mention, those who need to get back to work can also fly there just for the weekend. I guess I will be exploring other resorts now.
  3. Also, Does anyone know if guests staying outside the resort have to purchase a day pass to attend your wedding? I am worried about people not wanting to pay the resort price, they may decide to stay at a hotel instead. Also, I wonder if guests can stay at another GBP resort and still get into ours for the wedding? Not sure if the wedding coordinator will get back to me on any of these questions (after reading your posts), so I'm posting it here. Thanks again to anyone who can share their experience with me!
  4. I am new to this thread, but I am VERY interested in a destination wedding in Dominican Republic. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to send me some photos of their ceremony and/or reception? (Email: speidelk@gmail.com) Gran Bahia's website does not show too many photos of weddings, or if they do, they reuse them between their resorts so I cannot tell what site to pick! I am really looking for a ceremony location that is outdoors and off the beach like a garden/gazebo area with the ocean in the backdrop. I saw some areas of Dominican have cliffs, that would also be another good option. We are aiming for early 2014, but I'm hoping to pick a venue soon so I can hand off the rest to the coordinator and give our guest plenty of notice. I appreciate any advice anyone can provide. Thank you!
