  1. Hi all, Does anyone know what days each restaurant is open? I am thinking about whether to use the ballroom or a restaurant as a back-up and am wondering which restaurant will be available on our wedding day, a Friday. Is there even a set weekly schedule? Fatima says we won't know until closer to the date, but if any of you can provide I'd insight, that'd be great!
  2. Thanks, aschackart! Rosa at the spa told me that there are 5 stylists to do hair and makeup. And the pricelist stated 75 minutes for hair and 55 for makeup, so I said we wanted everyone to be done by 3pm and asked if 1pm was a good start time for me and four bridesmaids. Rosa said that would work. If it's only an hour, though, I don't think we need to start so early! I'll confirm with Rosa. I was thinking we might do introductions, first dance, and then toasts during dinner. Not sure where to put the father/daughter and mother/son dances. Are you not doing those? And the bouquet toss?
  3. Has anyone come up with a good timeline for the day of? All I know is we're getting hair and make-up done at the spa starting at 1pm. I'm most concerned about the reception timeline, when to do the dances, toasts, etc. If any of you ladies have something put together, please let me know!
  4. If anyone is still wondering about the fake petals, Fatima told me that we can't use them because the resort is part of the Rainforest Alliance program and the fake petals might put the sea animals in danger. I was gonna have the flower girls throw petals like usual, but now I might have them blow bubbles or just hold a sign. I'm not sure if the heat/humidity would work well for bubbles? SLetendre, the timeline Fatima suggested for us is: 5pm ceremony 530-630pm photos 630-730pm cocktail hour 730-1030pm reception She said sunset is around 730pm for our wedding date. If you're having your reception outside, as you probably know, the reception has to end at 1030pm because they're not allowed to play music outdoors after that time. I would've liked to do everything a tad bit later to avoid the heat, but we're stuck with that timeline since our reception is at Las Palmas. I hope that's somewhat helpful!
  5. Thanks for the info, Jenny! And thanks for being honest.. it's definitely good to know about the heat. We had already planned on doing program fans so we're good to go on that. And I will definitely let people know about using a high SPF. We don't want to be burnt on the wedding day! I hope we don't have to use them, but it's comforting to know the ballrooms are beautiful! As for vows, we are likely using the ceremony vows. I'm Filipino, so we're adding a couple Filipino traditions to the script. And I'm definitely editing the script alot!
  6. Where did you find the petals for $2/bag? We told Fatima we'd be getting the real petals to line the aisle at $25/bag because I hadnt even thought of using silk petals! Totally worth it to bring your own if they allow it.
  7. Jenny, thanks for creating this thread! So much better than searching through the other super long Dreams thread. We're getting married at Dreams PV on 10/04/13.. six months! Since youve been there during the rainy season, can you tell me how hot and humid it is both during the day and in the evening and night? My fiance is pretty worried about sweating and whatnot during the ceremony if he wears a suit jacket. Will it be really hot at around 5pm? What time did it usually start to rain when you were there? October is towards the end if the rainy season, but with our luck, it'll rain on our Las Palmas reception. Anything you can tell me about the weather during September/October would be appreciated. -Aileen
  8. Hi ladies, This forum is great.. I feel like I need to go through all 215 pages! So my fiance and I are likely having our wedding at Dreams PV on October 4, 2013. The resort seems wonderful and so far the wedding coordinator I have been talking to, Fatima, has been so responsive and helpful. My biggest concern is the weather. I know early October is at the end of the rainy season, and I would like to have a beach ceremony and the reception on the Las Palmas terrace. Has anyone else had their wedding around that time? Did it rain alot or at all while you were there? What back-up plans did you have in place? Did you use them? Did it go smoothly? Also, if it rains, where do you take your wedding pictures? Any encouraging words are appreciated! -Aileen
  9. Hi ladies! This board is excellent, I feel like I need to go through all 215 pages! So we're thinking of having our wedding at Dreams PV on the first weekend of October 2013. I'm a little nervous about it raining on the day of the wedding. Did anyone else get married there during that time of the year? If so, what sort of back-up plans did you girls have in case of rain? Did you end up using those plans? Did it go smoothly? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks! -Aileen
