  1. I am getting married on the 27th! At 1 pm.
  2. I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered. But I am just curious to how long the aisle is at the Riu. I plan on getting married at the Beach gazebo. I have seen many pictures but can't really tell how long the aisle is. How long did it take you to walk down roughly? I am trying to time my music. Also, if I instead choose to just do a ceremony on the beach with no gazebo, do I get to choose anywhere on the beach? or is there a specific spot where they set you up? Thankyou!!!
  3. Ya Punta Cana is really nice. I have been there the beaches are gorgeous. It doesn't even make sense how blue they are!!! Especially on a clear day obviously. We stayed at some place on Bavaro beach in Punta Cana and right next door was the majestic colonial. There was a wedding going on one day it looked amazing. Like I said, the only reason I decided on jamaica is because I hadn't been and it's the easiest country to legally get married in. If you decide on Punta Cana, you will love it. As for our honeymoon, we probably wont go til the fall. Our wedding is April 27th, and we are then having a very big at home reception in June. (200 plus people) So we were thinking end of october or so (after hurricane season) to go to Costa Rica for a honeymoon.
  4. Thats awesome you're considering punta cana. I have been to the Dominican 5 times now. I absolutely love it there! My next choice would have been the riu in peurto Plata, Dominican. Peurto Plata may not have the best beaches, but the backdrops are gorgeous. Lovely mountains and great views. The wedding gazebo at the riu is on a cliff!!! It's amazing. And the Cliff is on a point so there is literally ocean on all 3 sides of you. And mountains in the back. I went there once and saw a wedding. The only reason I chose Jamaica is because I have not yet been. And because it is the easiest country to get married in the caribbean. Good luck with you wedding though! And let me know what you decide on!! All your options sound great. And if you really love that spot in Florida and are in no rush to get married, then that just means more time to save up!!!
  5. I am so excited. After contacting over 20 photographers, I have chosen Diana. I had originally chosen stacey clarke but she had double booked me so had to cancel. It worked out good. I hadn't done much research and I kinda picked stacey right away. So after she had to cancel me, I really began to do my homework. You name the photographer, I contacted him/her. None of them really stood out to me. When I contacted Diana however, she called me!!! I liked that right away. So basically, after I booked with her (great prices by the way), I was happy. I booked a 3 hour package and video. I just emailed her to ask if she would show up an hour before the wedding. I figured one hour before and 2 for during and after would be enough. She told me she would be there 2 hours before!!!! I said no!!! I told her I only had her for 3 hours! And that I needed most of the time for after the ceremony. She replied immediately after like she always does and told me "don't you worry about the time, I am here for you, you just come and have fun!" So far, her responses have been so fast! She seems genuine. She already is making me feel like I am her only client!!!!! and the wedding is still 8 months away. I have read nothing but good reviews so far! It seems to good to be true! So if anyone is still looking, go ahead and contact her......And I will let you know how the wedding goes!
  6. You can do whatever you want!!!! It's your wedding! I am getting married in Jamaica and am having a formal reception when I get home. In jamaica, I am not doing anything. Just the 20 minute ceremony and then changing out of my dress. So, back home, I plan on doing a first dance, bouquet toss, and all that stuff. I am even wearing my dress. Basically, I am doing a formal reception, just no ceremony. Whereas in Jamaica, I am doing a ceremony, and no reception.
  7. That's a great story! This is also my first post. Ive used this website for many ideas but never posted. I'll make my story short. I have known kevin since grade 7. We were 12 years old. However, we really didnt start hanging out until grade 9. We became close friends and basically stayed that way throughout highschool. We never dated until my last year of highschool. It was weird at first because we were already such good friends. And that's basically it! We've been together ever since. we bought a house just over 2 years ago. And he proposed about 4 months ago. We had never once talked about getting married. I never once mentioned it as I always believed he would ask when he wanted to, not when I decided. And if he never asked, that would have been fine too. And trust me, after 8 years, i was starting to think he never would ask. haha. But he did. At our good friends stag and doe. He asked them first if it was ok if he did it on that day. They obviously said yes. So basically, he got the band to call me up on stage. I had no idea what was going on. He then got down on one knee and held out a box with a ring in it. I was soooo shocked I didnt even answer right away!!! Until my friend in the audience yelled at me to answer! lol. So I said yes obviously and the band played some sappy song lol. Everyone cheered and my friends actually got it on video. I cant believe he did it infront of sooo many people! That was what was so shocking. I never ever would have expected that. But it worked out good. And that's it! Were getting married april 27th, 2013 in Ocho Rios, jamaica.
