  1. No, I am not bringing my own cake stand. I am less than 2 weeks away and feeling anxious about packing! I am doing welcome bags as many of you are doing and definitely under estimating how much space it is taking up! We ordered plastic cups for everyone and totally didnt realize how much space they would take up. I am also worrying that I forgeting something big to do! Any last minute things people can think of that I could have possibly forgotten???

  3. I am using the dj for the cocktail hour and the reception. They said that they have two set up for the two different locations.
  4. Hey just fyi to everyone who want to do a rehearsal dinner but do not want to pay extra. You can reserve up to 20 people at 4 restaurants- bana, mole, market grill or vento. Thats what we are planning on doing for just the bridal party and then will have the rest of our guests met us for drinks after. I am only 2.5 weeks away!!!
  5. I am super nervous about jair and make up as well. I am trying a hair and make up but before going down, I am going to go to MAC and have them do my makeup and have one of my bridesmaids come with me for back up. I also had them what make-up they use and they use bodyography if anyone is interested. I am going to try and keep my hair simple but elegant. I am jsut bringing my own products haha might be a little crazy. For the girls with the bridal party drama, I can totally sympathesize. Our best man was all about doing our destination wedding then became unsure about. Then said he wasnt going to go then then he was. The day that the groomsmen went to go try on their outfits. He showed tried on the vest and then not the pants and when we said something to him he said that he wasnt going to go. Then a few days later texted my fiance and said he never asked to be the best man! what a jerk. My thoughts for these are theyre better off not coming and ruining everyone special day!
  6. Ev, I think the general rule is that they take at least two days to respond back which is super annoying. I have been emailing her back and forth. I sent her pictures of what I wanted and they said they could do it. I sent different options and they give you an estimate of the costs. I am doing like fishbowls with a candle, sand and seashells. We are also planning on using the chinese lanterns for decor. I am bringing down table numbers and escort cards. Hope this is helpful!
  7. Thanks for the info! We ended up opting out of the extra hour because it would another grand for it and its kind of ridiuclous to pay for a open when the resort is all inclusive. With the room block, you end up paying a 100 dollar deposit for each room you reserve then you get refunded the money with either the cost of the wedding, the wedding extras, or your rooming stay. You also get 3 complimentary nights if you book 10 or more rooms which was a huge help for us. For just the basic room, its 180 per person per night if there are two people in the room. In hindsight, I probably should have went through a travel agent who could have maybe gotten a better deal for my guests. So i kinda feel bad about that. For those of you who have discussed the bridal suite, have you seen it? My bridesmaid (6) and I are getting our hair done at the spa so Im not sure if even its small its worth it.
  8. Ugh Im sorry to hear everyone's stories.... i think most people including myself try to do a destination wedding to avoid stress, but needless to say, that certainly is not the case! Just an FYI if any other brides booked a room block through the hotel, make sure you release the unbooked rooms 45 days prior to wedding or when you know you have enough rooms booked. I had booked extra rooms and they said to me if i dont release them i would be responsible for the cost of 3 nights for the unbooked rooms! I dont think so!!! Another so it seems like the buffet place is the only option for rehearsal dinner? I guess I will do that and maybe have all my guests go to a bar after and dominate the area. Is anyone extending the reception an extra? Its only 3 hours with the package and it ends up being close to another grand to extend. I feel like we should for our guests. But my fiance, my mom and my MOH arent convinced we need- what are your thoughts???
  9. Hey there I actually just picked out my guys outfits yesterday at men warehouse. We got calvin kelin khaki linen vests and pants. We got an amazing deal- half off! They are going to be wearing white dress with the sleeves rolled up and navy vineyard vines ties! On another note, i am not sure if it was addressed before but what are people doing for the rehearsal dinner??
  10. Hey there The planning call wasnt as informative as I thought it would be... I had previously sent Lara from carribbean celebrations centerpiece and flower ideas. It was more just reconfirming locations of the ceremony and reception. I actually requested to extend the reception an hour longer because with the aqua package its only 3 hours which I feel is kinda short. It seems like a few weeks they will put you in contact with the onsite planner to hash out more details. That pricing list and the worksheet they sent pretty much sums it up. Also, if you havent been in contact with Daniela from the spa they will give you that info. Hope this helps! Erica
  11. After reading these past posts about making a dinner reservation for the group, I looked through emails because I was planning on doing the same thing. Jessica my romance planner said reservations can be made at earliest ten days in advance so maybe when it's closer they will be more accommodating? That's what I'm hoping for. I feel as though its a lil ridiculous to have to take pay for a dinner when the resort is all inclusive. I am hoping with our group being 40 people to just dominat an area at the hotel haha. Also, just a lil advice that I was given to pass along to you because I'm trying to follow! The day and vacation is going to be wonderful because we all will be with our friends and family and everyone will be on vacation. My friend just came back from a wedding there and she said her favorite part of the whole trip was just hanging out with everyone and listening and dancing to their own music they brought. So that just makes me happy and hope have that same mind sight!
  12. Ok good to know- I am starting to feel anxious about this peripheral planning since my wedding is 2.5 months away!
  13. is there only one dj and do they play american music or is it just carribean music?
  14. i dont think thats bridezilla at all!! you paid for a service that they initially recommended and they should eat the cost since they did not properly inform you of the change!
  15. ugh that is soooo frustrating.... maybe email the manager and send them all your documentation re: the dj. I just found out at the end january about dj mannia so im not sure when it took place. they should at least discount you their dj if you cant do dj mannia.
