  1. Hey gals, I am using Maria Fay as my WC and she is amazing. Originally, I was calling ABH to find out more information and I always seemed to get her on the phone. When I booked the wedding, I specifically requested her and they linked me up with her. She is super organized, sweet and cheery! I'm realizing how little room there is for any price negotiation, which is disappointing. 20+ rooms booked with two private events, you think there would be a little wiggle room. I guess this is the wedding biz! Is everyone staying in the Honeymoon Suite? - Krissy

  3. Hey gals! We have about 48 guests and 6 kids confirmed - a few are lagging (of course!) All the Deluxe rooms are sold out already for the May 5th weekend, so after a few days of stress and reminder emails, I told myself I have to stop caring if people book or not. (I found out there is a wedding booked on the 4th and 6th.) Maritza, my travel agent just got back from a visit to AB and reported back that she couldn't have been more pleased with the entire place - accommodations, staff, food, safety, upscale standards. Music to my ears considering we didn't visit either. The ballroom looks gorgeous from the photos, and given the fact that you are bringing 88 people to the resort, I'm sure they will bend over backwards for you when you arrive. Did you gals see photos of the Skyview Terrace on the main Azul Beach thread from 2011? Looks like another option for the reception besides the beach that was just finished. I'm thinking of checking it out when we go down there. From the videos, it looks crazy windy on the beach. Either way, its paradise, so I will be in heaven. How is everyone getting favors down there? -Krissy
  4. Thanks ladies! I'll have to check out MVP. I hope we will be okay with a 4pm - good point about the sunlight. I just talked to my travel agent and the Deluxe rooms are already sold out for the weekend of May 5th! I'm kinda freaking out, but sent a message out to all my guests who haven't booked yet. May brides, def tell your guests to get those reservations in asap!
  5. Hi Ladies, I'm hoping to hear and share some creative ideas for ABH and also hear about your experience with vendors/wedding coordinators, etc. We are getting married on 5/5/12 - Very excited! We are getting married at 4PM, so we have plenty of time to party with our guests later - any other ABH brides select that time and were okay with it? Our wedding coordinator insists it won't be. I'm still weighing the pros and cons. I read some previous posts about bringing table runners and sheers. I can't get over spending $300 for two colored sheers! Craziness. I might look into bringing chair bows too. Make-up and hair recommendations? I've got to leave this to the professionals. Those who are doing favors, do you plan on shipping them down ahead of time? Happy planning! -Krissy
  6. Thanks for posting Maritza - I am wondering the same. (We are getting married on 5/5/12 at ABH.) Oh man, we are only planning for 50 also! 82 is an amazing turnout - congrats! Maybe the wedding coordinators have the table info? Did they comp the room for you and your fiance the week you are staying? We are going into negotiations soon with that. Krissy
  7. Ladies, you all ROCK! I just read through all 12 pages of posts and each one was so helpful. Melissa, I was tearing up when you walked down the aisle in your video! Gorgeous. Thank you for posting - it def allowed most of us to see what the whole beach ceremony set up is at Azul. We are getting married on 5/5/12 - Cinco de Mayo! Very excited. We are getting married at 4PM - any other ABH brides select that time and were okay with it? Was the sand too hot? Our wedding coordinator insists it won't be. I love the ideas about bringing table runners and sheers. I can't get over spending $300 for two colored sheers! Craziness. I might look into bringing chair bows too. Those who are doing favors, do you plan on shipping them down ahead of time? Not sure what we are doing yet. We are both musicians, so I'm thinking mix CDs. (not very Mexican-ish, but whatevs) Also, I decided to do Mexican fans made out of yellow cloth and black lace for the bridesmaids instead of flowers to save money and also tie in some cultural tradition. They are avail on lands-faraway.com for $20 each! Saving $40 instead of flowers for $60 each was pretty attractive too. It'll be a cute keepsake for my ladies too. I'm planning on carrying a white one. Happy planning! -Krissy
