  1. Congratulations on your engagement. I didn't choose a hotel, rather a Villa in Montego Bay. A few things to keep in mind regarding any of the hotels. Hotels book as many events as possible on any given day. While the ceremony may be booked at the Arch on the Beach for 1-hour, bride #2's party may be hanging around while you say your "I do's". Take a look at some of the candid photos on line of beach resort weddings and notice the tourists in the background complete with shorts and flip flops. Every bride has a photogapher, party, family, friends, etc. in tow, you get the picture. There is no guaranteed privacy at any hotel as there may be up to 10 weddings per day. Ask how far in advance you can work with your hotel desginated Planner, it may only be 30 or 60 days. If you select outside ask what your backup location is in advance in case it rains. Ask about all the extras that are not covered in the package the hotel is offering. Ask questions here, I found the thread full of Bride's willing to share. Best of luck.
  2. Hi KAntoine, Unfortunately I don't know anything about the GP and you are probably locked into the Planner there. I chose a Private Villa and an independent Planner, Denise Taylor. My wedding is in May 2012 and Denise and I started working together two months ago. This was really important to be given I don't plan to make any site visits prior to arriving for my wedding. Denise has 30 years of planning weddings on the island and given she's an independent, she's very forthcoming about the pros and cons of everything. She answered a lot of my questions even before we signed a contract. She may do the same for you. At a minimum, she may help you understand some of the resort mumbo jumbo until your Planner can begin working with you. Here's her website. http://www.eventplanningextraordinaire.com/contact.htm
  3. Good Luck, it sounds like you have your hands full. That's a great number of folks for a Destination Wedding! The Villa I'm looking at sleeps 16 but I understand there are 'Sister Villa' arrangements if you're interested. I too, resist the all-inclusive and don't want folks strolling the beach between "through sickness and health" so am voting for the privacy of the Villa. Be careful, some villas charge extra for guests not lodging at the Villa to attend the festivities which would make it more expensive in your case. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having a hard time making a decision. LOL
  4. We also have our eyes set on Endless Summer Villa in Montego Bay! We're planning on utilizing all 7 bedrooms with are closest family members and friends. This Villa is advertised by at least three Villa rental company's. Not sure which to choose but Villas by Linda Smith offered up to on-ground Coordinators in the Jamaica area. Did you complete your on site visit? We are considering booking without one. I've read good reviews and don't mind the 'do it yourself' role. Let me know what you found, saw, heard. Thanks and best wishes.
