  1. We just returned from our wedding at the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe, and everything went perfectly. I have to be honest and say that planning was very hard, as the resort was not very responsive with my emails. However, I don't think that's entirely unusual for destination weddings in Mexico. Nonetheless, when we arrived, the resort had all of our reservations, and beautiful rooms for our guests. They put my new hubby and I up in this amazing room in the Royal Tower- with the most amazing view of the ocean. We could not have asked for a nicer room! The staff was extremely nice, the resort is super clean, and our wedding turned out great. It managed to pour down with rain all day on the day of our wedding, but the staff quickly set up a beautiful area in the ballroom instead. We were disappointed with the rain, but there was not much that could be done about the weather. The wedding coordinator, Rosy, had everything under control, and remembered all of my requests from my many, many emails to her. After our wedding, we returned to the room where staff had laid rose petals in the shape of a heart on our bed, and placed chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries on our table. I really can not say enough nice things about this resort, and I hope others consider having their wedding here too. The resort is small enough, so that our guests were able to easily hang out with each other or run into each other while hanging out by the pool. The staff really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and happy. While I will be the first to say that planning the wedding about gave me an ulcer, at the end of the day it was all worth it. I would advise other brides to relax and trust that everything will turn out okay and just look forward to the great day that's to come. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
  2. I just found out that my resort does not have dry cleaning/wedding gown steaming services. I'm getting my dress steamed before I travel to Cancun, but would still like the option to have it done once I arrive- if needed. The coordinator offered to recommend a place when I arrive, but I want to be sure it's reputable before I hand over my dress! ; ) Anyone have any recommendations out there? Thanks!
  3. Hi Julie, Good luck with your planning experience! I have been planning a January wedding at this place for the last 5 months or so. The current wedding coordinator, Rosy, is really, really nice, but I probably wouldn't recommend this place to others. The resort is not super responsive, particularly the reservations desk, and I've had issues with the contracts. Planning a wedding is one thing, but then having a decent and reputable place for guests to stay is another thing. With the many bumps we've hit, I am just crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly on the day of the wedding and for my guests who are traveling far to attend. PM me if you would like more details, good luck! Melissa
  4. Did you ever hear from the new WC? Things have been going more smoothly now that Rosy has taken over. It was pretty ridiculous there for a while.
  5. Any new information on this place? We have been trying to plan a wedding here, and it has been a nightmare. I would love any information if anyone has got it.
  6. Any input would be greatly appreciated... We are currently planning a January, 2012 wedding at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand. It has been all but a nightmare so far. The coordinator is super busy, and as a result, has been very unresponsive to emails. I guess that's to be expected, so not my primary concern. In order to host the wedding/reception, and to provide guests with honored room rates, we were required to sign two contracts. One for each. In order for guests to reserve their hotel rooms, the coordinator initially wanted everyone to email copies of their credit cards to her- and she would take care of the process. She offered the same instructions when my parents went down to check the place out, and consequently the front desk had no evidence of their reservation when they arrived. Due to internet security concerns, and what happened when we sent my parents down- my fiance and I were not at all keen on this idea. After numerous, slightly confusing exchanges- she finally agreed to set up a link on the resort website, so that guests could complete the transaction on an encrypted form. You can see another couple has the same type of link for their October wedding, so we knew it was possible. We just couldn't figure out why she was reluctant to do it for the first couple of weeks of us asking. Anyway, After waiting a month, with no link, I finally get an email from her yesterday stating that she made a mistake on the contract I signed for the hotel rooms, and the rooms are actually more expensive per person than she indicated. She sent me another contract, with prices increases around $15-20 more per person per night, and stated that she would provide the link after I signed this new contract. Is this possible? I'm getting pretty fed up with the run-around she's given us- and have a hard time believing that we shouldn't be honored the rates she initially provided in the first contract. Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any legal ramifications if the resort breaks a signed contract that THEY provided? What a headache... I definitely do not recommend this place for weddings.
