  1. We did the palapa, and we had the presidential package. We had 24 people and the resort provided appatisers (which very few people touched, and champagne on the beach for the guests while we did pictures. We also did not have a photographer, other than the one at the resort, so we encouraged people to join us in taking pictures. The bar in the palapa opened before the reception started so guest that wanted a beer or another drink, could go into the palapa and order that. There was no additional cost to us for this.
  2. We did bags with fans, candles, small photo album, thank you tag, T-shirts (part of a game and everyone wore them the night of the rehersel dinner), shampoo and conditioner samples - thats all I can remember right now. We put them all together the day after we arrived and because of the T-shirts (each one with a different saying on it) we had specific bags to go to each room. The groom got all the room numbers from the desk, we put them on the bags and the bell boy took us around to deliver them. He didn't feel comfortable going into peoples rooms himself, so he opened them up and we put the bags inside. They drove us around in the cart and did each room and we were done in about 30 - 45 min.
  3. I got regular responses from Araceli Tovar and the e-mail address I used was weddings.mx@sirenishotels.com. She will respond to you, and she is very helpful. I found that the closer we got to the wedding the quicker she responded. Good luck with all your planning.
  4. We had the presidential suite with the presidential package, and there are only 2 presidential suites, so check with Araceli - she is the one who arranged it for us. I brought her a large bottle of Maple Syrup in a maple leaf shaped bottle (Canadian) but I didn't even think of giving her money. I also didn't realize there were actually 2 of them working on our wedding. They - Araceli and Pamela, were both amazing. They couldn't have been nicer. The reception at the palapa was great. Very private, steaks were cooked right under the hut, so you could smell them. We chose to go with the soup, salad, main course and wedding cake for desert. Araceli suggested that if we chose a dessert, the guests wouldn't eat the wedding cake - good call. It was the best cake I have ever had. Hope your daughters day is as special as my daughters was. Araceli even ordered a full moon for us. She is great.
  5. To Elissa, So sorry to hear about your issues at GS. My daughters wedding on April 18th was amazing. We did the hotel package and since we did the presidential package, they threw in the presidential suite for the bride and groom for the week. Aracely and Pamela were with us from the moment the ceremony began until 10:30 when the first cart took guests from the reception to the hotel. My daughter owns a hair salon and she had her hair and makeup done at the spa. She looked georgous. Our experience was completely different from yours. I would definately recommend this as a place for a destination wedding, as many guests advised that it was the best wedding they had ever attended.
  6. I dealt with Danny Almon at Destination Weddings. His e-mail is danny@almontravel.ca and for the Grand Sirenis I dealt with Aracely Tovar and her e-mail address is weddings.mx@sirenishotels.com. Both did a great job for us and for my daughters wedding. Hopefully this is helpful to you.
  7. They are all priced in peso's so it depends on the the currancy exchange is at the time of payment.
  8. They were here for 1 week and are now at another resort for the honeymoon, and her dad and I are here for two weeks. First one with them and second on our own. Yes she got the presidential suite for her entire stay. For the reception we got the food from the El Rancho. We had cream of lobster soup, fruit salad, steak and steamed veggies, and wedding cake for dessert. We altered the menu a bit. There were 34 of us and we chose to have the reception dinner the night before for all the guests at the Rancho and they had steak, stuffed baked potato and corn, so we wanted the reception dinner a little different. I have to tell you that the wedding cake is amazing. It is not a normal cake and everyone raved about how good it was. We chose to have it as dessert as the planner told us that otherwise people would not eat it. Good call on her part because it was soooo good. Her MC asked everyone the night before at the rehearsal, to take lots of pictures and that we would share a site later for everyone to post their pictures. We had head that the wedding photographer wasn’t very good. They were given 10 free pictures and they chose them and yesterday we went down to pick them up. They are 5 x 7’s and the quality was good enough that her dad and I chose to purchase 6 more ($8.50 per picture). I do and if you want me to send you some, e-mail me at suemun@shaw.ca. Put Kym’s pictures in the subject line so I don’t delete it thinking it is spam before I read it ha ha. You are all very welcome. I checked this site many times before we came and got lots of great info from it and I am now paying back. If there is ANYTHING that you want to know and I can check for you while I am still here, please feel free to ask. I am here till the 27th so feel free to ask for whatever you want till then. Extra info The presidential suite comes with free internet for the week. You must bring a cable with you as it is not wi/fi. If you don’t (like we didn’t) you can purchase one for $103.00 pesos in the gift shop. Any place around the lobby is wi/fi as we saw lots of people with laptops there. Internet is not free for other guests but it is not much. You can purchase by the week, or by the time. There is a place to go to use computers if you don’t bring your own. There is no place to print things but the wedding planner will print stuff for you – a few pages. Above the Air Transat desk they have put up 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper announcing weddings and activities for the weddings. We went to the business centre and put one on word then had the wedding planner print it off for us and posted it there and also at the concierge desk in our building. There are 10 or so 3 storey buildings on each side of the resort. 10 are for the Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach and another 10 or so for the Grand Sirenis Resort Mayan Rivera. We were all at the Beach resort and the presidential suite is at the Mayan resort. That gave them a bit of privacy also but it was an easy enough walk to get from one to the other.

You would be smart to bring this with you if you can. It would have been way easier. Their computers have certain keys in different places and it is more difficult to use than the ones we are used to. 10. My daughter got married at GS on Monday the 18th and we did the Presidential package. It was wonderful and the wedding planner gave us the Presidential Suite for them. That room is georgous and they hosted a few get togethers in their room for the group the days leading up to the wedding, as they had a full bar that was re-stocked daily. The spa did a great job with the hair and her make-up was awesome, then they let the mother of the groom and I do our own hair, and when we were running behind, the girl jumped in and finished mine (or she didn't like what I was doing ha ha). Anyway, in answer to Eylssa's question about hair and make-up - they did a great job. No need for back-up. We had the wedding at the beach and the reception was a private one in the palapa right behind. It was decorated with the flowers from the alter on the main table and the chairs from the wedding site, with the white covers and bows. It looked awesome. They pick up all of your guest by cart totake them to the wedding site 30 min before the wedding time, then bring in the men of the wedding party, and then the bride and her group. The wedding co-ordinator stays with you to tell you when to walk up the aisle etc. There was champagne and hordorves on the beach right after the ceremony, but not much of the food was even touched. That was included in the package we had. The wedding planners stayed and when we realized that the bride and groom forgot to tell them the first songs they wanted and the DJ didn't have them, the two wedding planners left to download the songs and returned with them. They were still there when we left at 10:30 ish to make sure that people got on a cart to go where they wanted to go. They were very discrete but they were both there throughout the whole wedding. I think it was the best wedding I have ever attended, and I heard that from a few guests as well. I would hightly recommend it.
  11. I think you are paying for a photographer to come on the resort the same as you would for a guest that is not staying at the resort. The price seems to be the same. If the photographer is a guest, he/she already has a wrist band and is on the resort so there wouldn't be any additional charge. For my daughter's wedding, we are having the guests take pictures and then post them to a web site for everyone to share.
  12. Thank you so much for your post - I realy enjoyed it and found the information very helpful. I expecially appreciated the link and the ideas for the guest. Thanks again.
