  1. so it's been awhile since starting this thread, but my love affair with Insanity still continues. the results I got with it were seriously insane, and I've been trying to find a way to duplicate them while avoiding the redundancy (I have memorized all the Insanity DVDs). last year, I did a P90X/Insanity combo, but I didn't shed pounds the way I did with Insanity daily. now I'm getting back in to working out and started with T25. my husband and I tried T25 initially and didn't see results in 3+ weeks so were discouraged. now I'm using it as a stepping stone to 1 - 2 weeks of Insanity which will lead to... THE ASYLUM. gotta keep it fresh, right?? ; ) I'm sure it will all be worth it. in september, my husband and I are headed back to the Royal Playa del Carmen in Mexico where we were married 2+ yrs ago. : ) even though it's not the wedding, we both have put on a few pounds working at desk jobs, so it's a nice reason to get in shape again.
  2. no KIDDING?! the royal in cancun was purchased by hyatt (it's now the hyatt zilara). fortunately, according to the trip advisor reports nothing has really changed. maybe the same is in store for playa. sad for the change, but it's indicative of all the commercial traffic playa has garnered - I've been going there for the past decade, and it's really different today. but I'm still in love with it and would consider buying a condo there if not for the political uncertainty. as far as the beach, it all depends on what you're used to. I found it to be better than Hawaii's big island (their beaches are either rocky or man-made). but if it's a beach you want, you cannot beat Tulum. we went to one there through a tour company, and they said it was the one used on Corona commercials! the playa beach also has a lot of local pedestrians. of course, they're not allowed on the Royal's property, but where the water meets the sand is public domain, so there's no way to control what happens. that's one reason we chose to get married in the gazebo. apologies if much of this has been said already. it's been quite a hiatus for me, but I'm happy to answer any questions!
  3. I'm headed back to the Royal (6th time - certifiable, I know!!). will anyone be getting married there over Labor Day??
  4. omg, I could not agree with you more! I tried to do another round of Insanity this year to prepare for our upcoming anniversary trip back to Playa, and I was so bored with the videos (this is my 3+ time through). I cannot WAIT for the new T25 and signed up to get an email when it's released this summer. : ) Shaun posted a video of it on his facebook page on Monday, and I think other videos were leaked to You Tube. this year I'll do the reverse and get in shape AFTER Mexico (but still during bikini season... ; )
  5. Like so many other brides, I’m finally cleaning out the wedding supplies in preparation for our anniversary trip to Playa del Carmen. All items are in brand new, never used condition (except where noted below). I’m not opposed to shipping to Canada but would prefer if the order total is at least $30. Shipping will be the actual cost to your destination based on the items ordered. I’d love it if you want to order multiple items – please make an offer! 9 Eco-Wish Lanterns – $35 It was too windy for us to release these at the wedding. All are brand new in original packaging. 12 raffia fans wrapped with turquoise ribbon – $15 There is a LOT of variation in the size of these fans (average is 11†long by 9†tall). I purchased two dozen and selected the largest fans from both batches to create this set of 12. The handles are wrapped with turquoise ribbon. I’ll throw in extra ribbon and glue dots just in case. 120 cups of Flyboy naturals freeze-dried rose petals – McLenglish Blend – $100 These were intended for a friend’s wedding (locally) but it was too windy that day to use them. Original cost was well over $200. The freeze-drying process preserves petals perfectly. They look and smell amazing. 6 ecoTools Bamboo mini foot files – $10 These would make perfect bridesmaid gifts. 3 Earth Jute Bags in Teal– $15 These are 100% biodegradable and carry a great message. Perfect for the beach (and your bridesmaids!) Approx. 12â€H x 16â€W x 7.5†gusset and holds up to 20 lbs. Wet bikini bag - $10 The inside of this bag is lined in plastic, ideal for holding wet items. I originally purchased it off eBay. There are no tags, but it looks brand new. Starfish punch – $10 This was used to create decorations for our invitations and placecards (mine is pictured). Super cute! 5 Blume boxes – $15 Set includes 4 lime green 4†cubes and one fuchsia 8†bouquet holder. Perfect for transporting small flower arrangements (and your bouquet) after the ceremony. These are slightly scuffed from sticker removal, but it may not be an issue if you decide to decorate them. For ideas and to learn more, see: http://www.blumebox.com/ 10 Clear plastic luggage tags and ties – $10 I meant to make these for our guests but completely ran out of time. 34A Sew in bra cups – $10 These are teardrop shaped, push up bra cups from Your Dream Dress. I ultimately decided to wear a strapless bra as opposed to adding these to the dress.

  8. mytye2B - I totally think you can do it, and I have no doubt you'd lose 25 lbs doing Insanity if you completely committed to it 6 days a week going all out like they do in the videos (once you're in shape enough to, of course!) I'm also in the camp of not being able to walk for a week after doing it, so now I'm doing my own geriatric version where I take out all the jumps. not only is it easier, it allows me to build up to it while still increasing my cardio abilities. I'd only recommend it for people going from near inactivity to Insanity - if you're a runner or work out often, you shouldn't have to do that to start. also, you can play the dvds off your laptop anywhere. that's what my husband and I do now that we're exercising at home and have to create a space to work out. when we were in an apartment previously, we'd just take our laptops to the gym there and play it from them. I think there was someone on here who tried it in an apartment, and they just talked to their downstairs neighbors beforehand to work out a mutually-agreeable time. the jumping isn't prolonged, so long as your floor/their ceiling has some sort of sound barrier between. you could try it and see how it goes or take your laptop to an open area (apartment gym? work gym?) to work out. it might even be worth a gym membership so you could use the exercise rooms when they don't have classes. it's something my husband and I have contemplated. I'm glad to see this thread is still alive. hang in there, ladies - and KEEP PUSHING!! : ) -kelly
  9. customs will do what they want to, unfortunately. we heard freeze-dried rose petals were ok, but they confiscated $200+ of them. strangely, they didn't care about the starfish we were bringing for someone else, but perhaps they'd felt as though they'd harassed us enough by that point. whatever you decide to do, just make sure it won't crush your ceremony vision if it doesn't work out. I was disappointed about the petals, but clouds were blowing in during our ceremony, and it would have been far too windy for them. it just wasn't meant to be. ; )
  10. the beach is, unfortunately, anything but private. where you get married will be public space, so the coordinators can't really do too much to help. and everyone wants to watch. it's one of the reasons we opted for the gazebo - because the Royal can control what goes on in their property - although there was noise from the pool, even at 6pm. if you're looking for something private, the Royal just isn't the place. except maybe if you got married indoors, but why go to the beach for that??
  11. hey tammy! so great to see you on here. unlike P90X (which is weight-based), Insanity is all cardio. so you won't need anything except a place to be able to move around and jump up and down. if you want to give it a try, there's a website where you can check it out for free: http://thetumblrgym.com/Insanity depending on how much cardio you've done in the past, I wouldn't recommend going straight into it unless you're somewhat accustomed to working out. I almost passed out in the beginning and couldn't walk for a week, but that's because I went straight from the couch to Insanity. if you're at least doing some sort of walking/jogging/treadmill/elliptical/cardio, you'll be ok. sometimes it takes awhile to get started, but as long as you're patient, you'll get there in no time. if you commit to 6 days/week, you'll be amazed at how fast the weight drops off. I posted some before and afters a few months back - I lost about 10 lbs altogether and dropped 1 - 2 sizes. I really miss it now and need to get back into some sort of routine. best of luck - let us know how it goes!
