Hi everyone! I'm in the process of choosing a resort for February 2012. I've narrowed it down to Secrets Maroma, Playacar Palace and The Royal Playa del Carmen. I just had a few questions for those of you who have visited SM... Is it a walkable distance to Playa del Carmen? If not, how far is the taxi ride? And I heard the marina for deep-sea fishing is nearby.. would anyone know how far away this is? And is the golfing next door? Thanks very much! This will be super helpful in helping me (finally) make a decision.

Hello! I am a February 2012 bride. I am thinking about the Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen.. but now I'm hearing things about it and I'm not sure. I would like to be in the Playa del Carmen or Tulum areas... but I'm open! I love that there is a forum to chat about destination weddings -- there's so much to consider. Nice to meet all of you!

Wow, I'm so sorry this has happened to you! It must be so stressful... just awful. Thank you posting about this though! I know it's probably a super hard time right now, but others can definitely benefit from this. Please keep us updated on what happens... I think I am re-thinking my plans to have my wedding there in 2012!

Hi Perry1217 -- I too am thinking of having my wedding at Playacar Palace in 2012! I thought about other countries besides Mexico, but I just love the country and the people so much it really was an easy decision. I chose PP for much the same reasons as you -- the wedding packages are great. I am set on the Sapphire package as those are the colours I've always wanted. At this point we're expecting over 50 guests.. and we're hoping to get a good group rate so we can all stay at the PP. Do you know where your guests are planning on staying? Â Have you contacted the hotel yet? I e-mailed Palace Resorts about a month ago and haven't heard back at all. Has anyone else had trouble receiving word back from them? I understand the wedding is a long time away, but I would like to hear from them so I can start planning! (Do I sound like an obsessive planner already? Ha ha.) Â I am also crossing my fingers they have a booking promo in 2012 comparable to the $1,500 Vacation Dollars they have now!
