  1. Thank you for your reply.. I was begining to think that I had the only terrible experience but sadly that's exactly how it happened to me... she was amazing and very quick in the first couple of weeks and then she would take two weeks to respond. I was SOOO frustrated. I wish you luck with your planning and thanks again for making me feel less insane!!
  2. Please know that I don't post reviews unless I feel VERY strongly about something. I warn all of the brides out there DO NOT USE KARLA CASILLAS!!! She went missing during my planning on several occasions and during the 3 months I tried to work with her she rarely got back to me... These were some of the "issues" that came up: She hurt her neck and was gone for two weeks Had back issues and was gone one week Got some severe food poisoning and was gone for more than a month! It was her birthday and she was gone for another week Her family took a holiday and was gone for two weeks! Although I understand that things come up it would sometimes take her 3 weeks to respond!! I am not a crazy bride I don't need a response in a day I think a week, however should be enough time to answer a question via email! When I finally got a hold of her and told her I would not be using her services unless her communication improved she handed me off to her assistant for planing. Her assistant may be very nice and I understand people need to get trained but I paid for Karla I should get Karla's services right! I am sure that this might have been just a single experience but I can honestly say that it was worth the 500 deposit I gladly lost to get out of my contract with her. Additionally when I would try to email or call her she was always "going to get back to me by monday, it was a crazy week!!"... two weeks later I would have to follow up again! It was more of a pain to speak with her than to plan the wedding myself. In the end I went with another planner and I'm REALLY glad I did!! TRUST ME.. I will GLADLY send anyone the emails w/dates to prove that I am telling the truth! Save yourself some trouble and just go with another planner. There are so many planners out in cabo, I wish I had picked another in the begining. THANKS :/
  3. Hello Ladies: Just in case anyone is thinking of having their wedding at the Cabo Azul Resort... I have a $1,000 Save the Date deposit that I will take an offer for.. If you are willing to have your wedding on JUNE 8th 2011 you can have my $1,000 payment!! Unfortunately my wedding in Cabo had to be cancelled for that date... and the resort would only give me a credit for that day so let me know if anyone is interested and we can discuss options... I have recently booked a venue in CA and no longer need to go to Cabo but I hate to see the money lost on nothing.. feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this.. THANKS Norma If you need more info on the resort it is SPECTACULAR.. unfortunately we had to reschedule due to the fact that certain grandparents were no longer able to travel and since we didn't want our wedding without them... here we are!! Feel free to check out the website for the resort... http://www.caboazulresort.com/
  4. I agree!! I just paid the initial deposit and signed the accommodations contract and it seems more than fair. I hope the resort is as gorgeous as the pictures/videos are!! The staff (so far) has been VERY quick in responding to my questions/concerns and the contract was given to me very quickly as well. I also read that they have completely new staff and I have not had any problems with any of them so far. I know that everyone has a different experience with resorts and I just hope that our experience is on the positive side!! Thanks for the info ladies Â
  5. Hi and Welcome!!! Â I actually just paid my deposit for Cabo Azul today!!! I started planning about 3 months ago and took my sweet time!!! I think the resort is beautiful, the staff is friendly and the reviews and videos of previous weddings there were amazing!!! I know that the resort has an in-house coordinator but I felt a little more comfortable hiring one of my own just so she can handle everything for me.. it's hard planning a DW!!! I have spoken to about every coordinator in the area and I have it narrowed down!! Let me know if you need additional info on costs etc!! Welcome again and good luck!!
  6. HELP LADIES: Well... I broke my leg and had to cancel my scouting trip to Cabo on the 21st of July!! I'm soooooo sad about it... but I have to suck it up and keep going... so I started reading all of the threads on here to find a resort... I was thinking about the dreams but found that the beach in front of the Dreams isn't really "swimable".... so I am back at square one....I need your help ladies!! Does anyone know of a hotel that is: close to downtown has a swimable beach maybe all inclusive but doesn't have to be 4 or more stars..... THANK YOU ... THANK YOU.... THANK YOU.... I have to plan this wedding regardless of my lack of mobility and I am PRAYING that I can find some advice!!!
  7. Hello: User Name: normamichelle Name: Norma & Douglas Location: Dreams or Casa Del Mar Wedding: May 2011 I'm going down to cabo on July 21st to check it out... previously a riviera maya bride but never been to cabo and it looks beautiful!! Wish me luck ....
  8. Thank you for this review! Thinking of going down to Cabo to see everything in person and I'm checking Dreams out for sure!! Thanks again
  9. I am so sorry to hear this Chris! I am also an only child and lost all of my grandparents when I was young. I think about them often when i plan my wedding. It is such a shame that your grandpa won't be able to see you get married in person but I strongly feel that our loved ones who have passed watch over us as we think about them. I'm sure he will be present in your wedding and I know he will love watching you get married. God bless you and hang in there ....
  10. Hey ladies: Got my contract via email today for Playacar Palace in Riviera Maya and I was told that the onsite coordinator would not be contacting me until 30 days prior to the wedding date!! That seems a little crazy to me and since some of you already started planning for 2011 I was wondering if this is common for most resorts or if I should switch asap? any thoughts?

I completely agree... I wanted to save money in the dress dept as well but after thinking about it I realized that you only get one chance to feel like a princess and if you LOVE the dress and how it makes you feel you can always find a way to buy it!! I've decided to give up Starbucks for a while ( a long while) so I can afford a pair of shoes i LOVE!! I may be grouchy but it will definitely be worth it!! Go for the dress, the rest will work itself out Good luck!
  12. Has anyone used Destinationweddings.com as their TA? I am about to book them and I really wanted some info about them... has anyone used them? If anyone loved or hated them PLEASE let me know!! THANKS!!!
  13. Hello Ladies: I just found this thread and it has been SO helpful... I am fairly new on here and just made the reservation for my May 2011 wedding in Playa Del Carmen!! I have a question though since I'm sure you all have way more experience at this point... Does anyone know if it is better to use a DW travel agent? If so does anyone know a good one? THANKS
