  1. By the way - cupcakes were from ZAida (I think that was who the vendor was) not from AyJ - but this was their suggested vendor
  2. Hi Paula- We got married at AyJ last November and it was excellent! Here are a few tips: The fabric is pricey, but it really helps make the palapa look beautiful, worth it We got the lounge furniture- but only for 10ppl (or whatever the cheapest option was). It was great to have during the cocktail hour and post-dinner dance party. We had 100 ppl at the wedding the the furniture for 10 was plenty. When we had our wedding, we had to bring our own paper lanterns - definitely worth the effort. Not sure if they offer them now? The flowers by Vanessa (I think) were expensive, but beautiful. We did not use any of our own vendors. Unless you LOVE your DJ - it's probably not worth it to use outside vendors. By using their suggested vendors, AyJ coordinate and take responsibility for them...something you do not want to have to worry about on your day. Alcohol - the options were pricey, in the end we went for medium open bar for after dinner - they definitely made sure we got our $$ worth! If you have a crowd that likes will be partying...worth it. We had a dance floor on the beach - we hired a DJ who came with lights ( AyJ rec DJ) We provided our own list of songs and let the DJ play what was appropriate for the mood at anytime- ie playlist but no specific order. After dinner dance party was fantastic...see alcohol comment above - waiters would bring trays of pina coladas, margaritas, shots of don julio tequila, beers and waters all night to the dance floor. Really the only thing we were disappointed in was dessert. We got cupcakes at $5or $6 each - which was very expensive. We live in NYC and cupcakes at the best place are less, but we decided to go for it. It was clear that the cupcakes were made a day or 2 before and were stale - pretty disappointing, but in the end, didn't spoil our time or the party. Good luck and enjoy
  3. Hi Tracy I'm pretty sure you are obligated to use the AyJ wedding coordinators if you have your event there. They are worthwhile as they'll guide you through everything and help minimize your work. In general AyJ is expensive, but I found most options in Tulum eventually add up. Check out La Zebra too. That's where we are staying with our friends and the food/service there are top notch too. Lauren
  4. Hi everyone! It's been a while since there has been any posts here -there must be some recent or upcoming A y J weddings to talk about. We're getting married there November 2010 - we did a visit back in January after checking out some other places. We are headed back in July to have some fun and make sure we've got everything covered so we can just RELAX when we go in November Lauren
  5. We're getting married in Tulum in November 2010 Lauren!
