  1. I'm getting married at the Moon Palace on Oct 23rd and am also having a private function. Depending on where you have your event will depend on fees (for instance, we're having our reception at the Carribean terrace and paying a $350 fee for that plus a $50 set up fee plus the $460 per table) if you have a reception at one of their typical terraces then you don't pay the $350 fee, just the $50 fee and $460 per table--this $460 includes food and drinks so that portion is not additional.
  2. That is the same thing i was told--not only am I paying $250 fee for an external DJ, I'm having my reception at the Caribbean Terrace and and they're charging me $350 for that as well. I too am bringing my own linens and chair sashes and if they even think about charging me i may just lose it. I have paid for the Amethyst package plus a separate reception fee and who knows what else--in total about $14k in fees which is just obsurd. It better be worth it as i feel waaaay too stressed out right now and my wedding is on Oct 23rd.
  3. I did the same exact thing--they were charging waaaaay too much $$ for a DJ and initially asked me to pay $250 per hour to bring in my own guy and then after some bargaining reduced it to a one time fee of $250 which is still not ideal but a lot better.
  4. Thanks this is sooo helpful. I'm in NYC too and was looking online for a linen rental place and this one seems to have exactly what i want.. thanks again!
  5. Does anyone know if the hotel will allow you to bring in your own linens (ie. tablecloths, runners, napkins?) They're trying to charge me $450 per table just for the nicer set up in addition to their regular $400+ fee per table for a private function.
  6. Congrats Ladies! if anyone has information on the DJs or music for a reception at the Moon Palace that information would be very helpful. Also, any pics of the Amethyst collection bridesmaids flowers. Thanks
  7. Has anyone hired an outside DJ for their Moon Palace wedding? I want to hire DJ Mania (Carlos I believe is the name) but on top of his fee the hotel is trying to charge me $250 per hour for using their electricity--that's absolutely ridiculous. Has anyone else had this issue?
  8. THANK YOU Soooo much! this info is so helpful you have no idea! i am very glad that you posted so much info-the more the better. Thanks again.
  9. Hi everyone! Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! My fiance and I are getting married on Oct 23rd this year. So far it hasn't been very difficult at all. The anticipation of hearing back from a vendor is the hardest thing I've come across. I decided to book Peter Mills of All About Photography as my photographer (and will still use the hotel's photographer for the ceremony--i just didn't want to book their package as it was too much for too little and I've heard mixed reviews about them so i wouldn't want to chance it) . We have 3 kids so breaking the bank on a wedding is not an option and Peter had exactly the package I'm looking for at exactly the price I'm willing to spend. We also decided to go with the Amethyst collection. Purple is in this year and the pics on the proposal looked beautiful. We are having a cocktail hour and a 3 hr reception afterwards and are hoping to use the free group dinner that comes with our package for the rehearsal dinner instead. In the package details it mentioned that if we have a certain amt of guests stay at the resort we’re entitled to a free cocktail hour, which is also included in our package so I’m trying to see if that additional cocktail hour could just be applied to the reception cost to offset the extra expense-will keep you posted. I went to the Moon Palace on Oct 23rd this past year and was very pleased with the resort- very spacious (rooms could have been a little larger) but overall there’s plenty to do and see and the wedding department is beautiful and coordinators are quite knowledgeable and eager to assist. I too have found that they’re not very responsive to my emails (on limited instances I’ll receive a response right away while during other times it will take several weeks—I’m assuming they’re just inundated with emails and requests plus have to actually set up the weddings so they have their hands full.) Well I have my dress, have the photographer and am now just awaiting a response from a DJ and florist and hope the resort will allow me to bring them in. We shall see. If anyone has any recommends on DJs or florists they would be greatly appreciated.
