  1. I'm glad to hear you had a good trip. I have not heard anything about Riviera Maya or Puerto Vallarta (where we're doing our wedding) being unsafe. My fiance and I feel confident and comfortable going forward with the wedding, but convincing our guests....well our parents, has been a big headache. They just hear the State advisory against travel to Mexico and all these horrendous news stories. It's awful.
  2. Hi there! I'm doing a wedding in San Pancho, which is just 15min north of Sayulita. We decided to do San Pancho after finding the ceremony/reception place, not the other way around, so I don't know much about other locations. We're using Bungalows Lydia. I know in Sayulita, Don Pedro's palapa is very popular and there are a lot of villas. As for coordinators, I contacted a bunch of them and got preliminary budgets. We were going to go with Kerry Moeller of Sayulita Wave because she charged the lowest fee and I wanted to do most of the planning anyway, but then there were long periods where she kind of dropped the ball on communication when we really needed to get in touch with her. Apparently her daughter had medical issues and she was going on vacation....so bad luck for us? I heard great things about Yazmin Gizeh of Sea of Dreams. Priscilla of Prisarvallarta.com gave us the best deals for all the items on our budget. Mishka of Mishka Designs is a bit pricier, but she's also a designer and can make your wedding personalized and incredible. Those were the main planners I contacted who are local to that area. Hope that helps!
  3. Hi ladies, After getting SO MUCH useful info from BDW, I need to start sharing  I found a lovely villa-like place off of tripadvisor called Bungalows Lydia in San Pancho, which is about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Just google Bungalows Lydia. After searching high and low for an intimate villa to have our wedding, this was by far the most affordable and awesome place I could find. In short, it's oceanfront, on a rocky promontory between two private beaches with nothing but jungle around it. I haven't seen it in person but the pictures are breathtaking. We're planning on having a private ceremony on the beach followed by a reception in the palapa. And they don't charge an event fee! Mayte, the lady I've been in contact with has been so helpful and accommodating, even suggesting that they would build us a restaurant on the premises just for our guests/event. I am still shocked by that.  Anyways, the downside is that it has a max capacity of about 25 and they don't allow non-guests to use their property, so it has to be a very small wedding. Also, there's no AC, but it does getconstant tradewinds. I hope someone finds this useful!  Best, Ming
  4. Hi girls! My name is Ming. My fiance and I got engaged on 5/3 while vacationing in St. John (which, btw, would be an AMAZING location for a destination wedding). We're planning for a weekend next May, currently looking at Palace resorts in Mexico or oceanfront villas for something more intimate and personalized so that we can make it ours. The search continues but this forum is the best resource.
