At first it seemed a little strange to me, but now the more I think of it, I am beginning to like the idea more. First, it will allow for daylight pictures of the cake cutting. Second, dessert is included with our dinner, so few people will be hungry for cake after a full dinner. If we cut the cake after the ceremony, people will probably be ready for a little snack. Third, since the private reception is only 3 hours, this is one less activity we need to do during our reception and will allow for more dancing, chilling, etc. And I guess 4th, we only have our photographer for 5 hours so cutting the cake after the ceremony will ensure our photographer is still available to capture the moment. That's so true! I hadn't even thought about the photograph potential! Thanks!

Thank you so much for your reply! I am a confirmed Catholic but my FI is not. He is a baptized Catholic but never did communion or confirmation. Do you know what kind of letter we need? We don't really belong to a church.. but my father does and our wedding is nine months away so we could probably become members. Thanks again for your reply and any details you can provide on what exactly the lengthy process is. The chapel is so beautiful I think it would be worth it!
  3. To all the Brides that have booked Gran Caribe/The Royal: I filled out and submitted the information sheet on their wedding website. Do I just sit back and wait for them to contact me? I'm not sure if I should get their direct email and get the ball rolling or just wait. My wedding is not until December 2010 so there isn't a huge rush. I'm just excited to get things going! Thanks and best wishes to everyone for a fabulous wedding!

The only positive I see would be we don't have to eat up time during our 3 hour reception for these activities. If we do this, then I think we would need to change our wedding time to 3:30 vs 4 because I am concerned we would run out of time for pictures (November wedding). And do we want to eat cake right before pictures?? Could anyone offer advice/suggestions on this?! I appreciate your help!! That seems like a strange time line for the events. Did the WC give you a reason why it should be done that way? I like your idea on having everyone go grab a drink at the bar while you do pictures before the reception. Do you know what the cost is of adding a cocktail hour to the Eternal Romance package? I haven't booked the Gran Caribe for our December 2010 wedding, but I've contacted them and am sure this is THE resort for us! These forums were a HUGE help! I've been looking for months at resorts but feel confident that the Gran Caribe/Royal will be perfect.
  5. Hello! The wedding chapel is gorgeous! Does anyone know if you have to be a confirmed Catholic to be married in the chapel? We were considering the Gran Porto in Playa Del Carmen but both my FI and myself fell in love with the chapel in Cancun! Thanks so much for any information!
  6. My fiance and I have decided to go with the Paradisus Riviera for our December 2010 wedding! I filled out the information sheet on their website but haven't received any information. Should I just directly email their wedding coordinator? Could someone provide me with her direct email? Also, any advice as I start the planning process is greatly appreciated!
