  1. I have the album completed. If you would like to see the electronic version, shoot me a message and I'll send you the link.
  2. Hi Justineheart, We got married at a villa in the Dominican Republic. It was the best decision we ever made. We preferred a villa because we wanted something more private, to ourselves. We did not want to be arm to arm in the pool at the resort with the large, party crowd (who was not our family). We wanted a small intimate gathering but wanted all of the amenities of a larger resort. We found it with the villa we chose - Villa Flor de Cabrera. The owners of the villa are Americans and are really nice and honest. Our wedding was planned with their on-site coordinator, via phone, email, and skype leading up to the wedding. I sent photos of what I wanted for flowers, cake, centerpieces, hair, etc. and everything was exactly as I sent the photos. We had a rehearsal dinner with a pig roast and bonfire on the beach. We had a ceremony with an officiant, guitar player, photographer, hair stylist, flowers, centerpieces, favors, DJ, etc.-- all planned through the villa. We didn't do too many decorations (only table centerpieces and favors and cake) because we wanted to take advantage of the natural scenery. The villa staff put up lights on trees to give your photos that sparkly feel. The villa we rented has 10 bedrooms (of varying sizes, bed combinations) so we were able to use it for the family and wedding party and friends stayed in a neighboring villa (within walking distance). They pretty much stayed with us all day and went to their villa to sleep so it was great. We also had a small boutique hotel with rooms reserved just in case someone preferred that option. The villa is right on the beach, has a pool/hot tub, private chef, hostess, bar tender, etc. so everything you need pretty much! They wait on you like you're the only one there (oh yeah--you are!) and have the whole place to yourself! Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions, I'd be happy to help! I know I was uncertain and would be glad to share any of my stuff (bottle invitations, passports, wine charm cards for favors, etc.) if it would be helpful. I also have an electronic album if you're interested, just message me and I'll send you the link.
  3. Hello! Does anyone have a starfish for June 27-July 6th? I'm getting married in the Dominican and would love a little borrowed please?
  4. I think this has my shared folder.... https://www.dropbox.com/browse_plain/Public/Flor%20de%20Cabrera%20share Can someone tell me if you can view these items with the link?
  5. I have photos and videos from our visit in April 2011 I would be glad to share with you. I have not visited Sunrise so I cannot compare the two. We are getting married at Villa Flor de Cabrera and it is stunning! I cannot wait! Flor de Cabrera also has an online reservation system (LRMvillas.com) that will greatly assist you in your planning. It really helps keep track of what everyone wants, food/drinks, taxis, spa services, excursions, and deposits. It keeps track of everything and makes your life easier. Feel free to contact me anytime!
  6. We are getting married in Cabrera, DR and flying into Puerto Plata for a July 2, 2011 wedding. Our flights were the most stressful part because of how quickly they fluctuate. We purchased really early as did all but one of our guests. We got ours from Newark, NJ to Puerto Plata for $402.20 each. Now they are up to almost $700! We tried a group rate, AAA rate, and just set a price alert on Kayak.com and booked it when it was low.
  7. Hi Gabriela, Â The villa that we are getting married at in Cabrera, DR has wedding packages and meal packages (all the way to all-inclusive). We found the prices to be much more reasonable than the resorts that we reviewed/visited.
  8. Hello DEMK1925, Â All of the meal plans are located at the following link: http://www.flordecabrera.com/meal-plans Â
  9. One more quick question--the church in Cabrera was recently remodeled? Do you have other information (name, location, photos?)
  10. Hello! I looked at both Castellamonte and Villa Flor de Cabrera and there are several reasons why I liked Flor de Cabrera better. Castellamonte has 8 vs. 10 bedrooms at Flor de Cabrera. Flor de Cabrera is closer to the beach while Castellamonte is higher on the cliff with alot of steps down to the beach. Flor de Cabrera has an American chef. Flor de Cabrera also has a honeymoon casita for the bride and groom (a happy mix between being with your family and having some privacy with a separate house for both of you). Castellamonte is decorated in Tuscany Italian style while Flor de Cabrera is a little homier. Castellamonte is definetely more advertised. It's entirely a personal decision. I would encourage you to do a weekend site visit before booking...it was a great way to see the options and make a decision.
  11. So nice to see other brides who got married in the same area that we will! We are getting married at Flor de Cabrera, it's down the road from Castellamonte and Sunrise in the same gated community. It's only a few years old and has 10 bedrooms. It's really beautiful and fully staffed (American owners, American chef) to make you feel like you're on your own little private resort. Check it out if you're interested in a villa rental. It was seriously much more cost effective than all of the resort options. We decided to charge people $300/week toward the villa and then they pay for their meal plan for the week. With the flight, villa, food, taxi, and tourist card..it should be about $1250/person for the week. Can't beat that! Plus the wedding package we are getting is about $3500 for everything (flowers, centerpieces, officiant, etc.)
  12. Hi antz, We're getting married on the North Coast (about 8 hours from Punta Cana). We're flying into Puerto Plata and hosting the wedding at a villa in Cabrera, Dominican Republic. It is much more our style to stay at a private, fully staffed villa. We went on a site visit at the end of April and it's absolutely beautiful. It feels like a resort that you have all to yourself. We have around the same number of guests. Villa Flor de Cabrera holds approximately 24 people and then there is another 6-8 person villa next door that is owned by the same people. The owners are Americans as is the chef. The initial price seems really high but when you divide by the number of people, it's really not and actually has turned out to be MUCH more cost effective than the resort option we were considering before this. I have the link in my signature if you're interested in checking it out. We fell in love with the place, the staff are great and the owners are fabulous! We loved every minute of it--from the gourmet meals to the massage on the beach--all great. They are going to host a weekend where brides come to check the place out. The price for the whole weekend was like $700 and if you book, it gets applied to your deposit. Can't lose there and it was a nice little getaway. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to try to answer them, email me. Jennifer
  13. If you find them, I'll gladly take some fuchsia and white ones! PM me if you find them and want to get rid of some after your wedding. My date is July 2, 2011.
  14. Do you also have the shawl? Also, is it a true to size 8?
  15. Hello! Is it possible that I get added to a starfish list? It'sfinallyhere's list can't fit me because of our travel dates. japonick 07.02.11 (travel 6.28.11-7.5.11) Cabrera, Dominican Republic Thanks a bunch! Jennifer
