  1. Hi everyone! We recently received our custom suits and they fit perfectly! My man wanted a fitted suit, so he could feel like James Bond. He got it! We made sure to get measurements from a professional. We ordered 2 suits (best man wanted a matching jacket for future wear) and 2 extra pairs of pants for the other groomsmen. One pair of pants were too small, but it was FI's little brother who goofed on the measurements, and not Studio Suit's fault whatsoever. So, shown here is a custom fitted cotton/linen blend suit in Tropical Beige linen colour. (the colour may be slightly off, due to the lighting of the pic) (Sorry for the dark shirt, he didn't have a white one at the time) With the white shirt though the contrast is very nice! We are so happy with the level of service, quality and time it took to get here (approx. 2.5 weeks) Don't be afraid as they are very good to communicate with you and if there seems to be anything that looks off, they contact you to make perfect sure it's the exact measurements you want! Hope this helps!
  2. Mslite: I have read from other brides that bringing the cake onto the boat is not a big deal and that the resort is ok with us doing that. So that's what we'll do! I am still not sure if we're going to bring extra booze. If anything maybe a few bottles of wine but I am not too worried about having only mixed drinks if that's all we can do! I wanted to do the seafood grill but I found out that your guests can have different packages so if some people want seafood and others don't it's ok. So for example 18 guests can have the mixed grill and 8 guests can have seafood grill and 6 can can have the beef grill. I am thinking of making up a menu option card and giving it to our guests at the welcome dinner. They can check off which meal they want and when we meet with Flori I can tell her exactly what everyone wants to eat for dinner! Deb: The cruise is set for 5:30 and the pick up is set for 15 minutes prior. Since the ceremony is quite early, there will be plenty of time for photos, I'm sure.
  3. Mslite: I think we'll use the bridesmaids bouquets as well as some small candles we'll be bringing with us. I am also playing with the idea of decorating with some hanging tissue poms in our wedding colours. Not sure about that yet though. Formosa Deb: Yay! Congrats to you and your man and I am so happy to hear that you've decided to go with La Barcaza! We're getting married on May 11th and I am so so so happy we found this as an option for our guests. I will keep you posted for sure and let you know how it goes!
  4. Hi Debs! We are having a beach ceremony at 1 p.m then a sunset cruise at 5:30 on La Barcaza. I read the same thing about booking with a group rate so I asked my WC. The answer I got from the resort was that it doesn't matter where they come from, if everyone has different flights or if a group rate was used as long as you have 15 rooms booked for 7 nights, you're golden. After the ceremony there will be the champagne toast and photos with the family, friends..but I don't think the cocktail party is necessary for everyone since your guests can easily find something else to do...hang at the beach, pool or go for a nap while you're off taking photos. The beauty of a destination wedding is flexibility. Just do what seems right to you, and I am sure your guests will love everything about the day/week! Have fun!
  5. It's a bit long, but there's certain details of a story you just can't leave out! Hope you all enjoy it! It was Christmas Eve. I went to pick up my boyfriend of almost 3 years from work mid afternoon so we could head up north to visit my family. It's a 4 hour drive but never seems that long when we're traveling together. I went inside the building to let him know that I was there. I immediately saw a gift sitting on a table across the shop.. It was a huge rectangular shaped box with a peak, sort of resembling the shape of a house. It was more than half the size of me, for sure. He asked me if there was enough room in the car for it. I looked at him with suspicion, reminded him that we both agreed we weren't spending money on gifts and then replied with a "yes". We got the gift into the car, stopped at Tim Horton's for some coffees to go and headed North. About 15 minutes into our trip I started to notice how quiet and discoloured my boyfriend's face was starting to appear. His grip was extremely tight on the steering wheel and his focus on the road was intense. I asked him a few times if he was ok, or if he needed me to drive. He calmly reminded me that his day was hectic and he was just a bit tired. I swore he was barely breathing. Halfway through our trip the car pulls over abruptly onto the side of the highway. I look over at my dude and he tells me that he needs to turn around because he thinks he saw something. He pulls a U-turn and enters a small parking lot off the highway that overlooks a bridge crossing a frozen river, a closed for the season resort and some empty docks. He takes a deep breath and asks me if I want to open my gift right then and there. Confused and excited at the same time I say "ok". We get out of the car and he takes this massive gift from the trunk. He suggests I open it up on the bridge and asks me if I want to carry it. I tell him he needs to carry it, because it's my gift and his idea! hahaha. We get to the top of the bridge and I begin to pull paper off this odd shaped box. I open the top flap and with confusion and I begin to pull out my present. A guitar? HUH? I tell him that he can't give me this instrument to because I bought it for him in the summer. He tells me that if it's his, than I should give it to him. WHAT? That's when he quickly tuned the guitar and began to sing. He sang a song he wrote about our lives together and finished it off with "Jennifer, will you marry me?" He got down on one knee and showed me a ring. He was shaking so badly. He reached for my right hand out of nervousness, so I gently guided him to my left. He said the ring wouldn't fit. I told him he was just shaking too much. Next, I half seriously half playfully grabbed him by the collar of his winter coat with both hands and told him if he wanted to change his mind he had 10 seconds to run.. hahaha he told me that he knew I was the one from the first day we met. So I carried the empty box and he carried his guitar and holding hand, we headed back to the car! The best part, and the one that really made me tear is when he told me that my ring was handmade by my talented friend Talia. I couldn't ask for a more perfect proposal!
