  1. Hey everyone...so a quick update. Since I was on here last we changed course and decided to do Mexico instead of the USVI or Puerto Rico. We're getting married at the Dreams Riviera Cancun (which I've heard a lot of good things about on this forum and elsewhere). In the end, Mexico was just more affordable because of the great selection of all-inclusives. For example, we got a 5-night all-inclusive stay at a great resort INCLUDING a basic wedding for what we would have paid for just the hotel at some of the islands we were considering. A couple people have to get passports, and yes, we'll have to do the legal stuff here. But it's not as big a deal as I thought it would be. I hated forgoing the idea of an "island wedding" but in the end, this just made more sense. So I'm super excited. I'm all booked, bought the dress and am waiting on the RSVPs. I'll be posting in the Mexico forums from now on. Thanks for all the great advice!

I was looking at the web site and I don't think Gran Melia is AI anymore, though you can get some stuff included for Royal Services. I'm asking our travel agent to check it out b/c I think it'd be a perfect place. Thanks for the tips!
  3. Thanks everyone for the advice and the warm welcome! I'll let you know what I decide.

I saw you'd checked out the Gran Melia. I've been considering that one too I was curious why you chose the El Conquistador instead. Thanks!
  5. Name: Jessica Wedding date: May 22 2010 Wedding location: Caribbean islands (Puerto Rico or St. Thomas) About me: Hi everyone! I got engaged right before Christmas. We've been together 8 years and already knew we wanted to do a small (10-20 ppl) beach wedding/honeymoon in the Caribbean, so we set an ambitious date of May 22. But there are so many options!! We've narrowed it down to St. Thomas or Puerto Rico and have a couple hotels on each island in mind (We briefly considered Riviera Maya Mexico too, but the legal stuff turned us off.) So I'm looking for any suggestions on which island and which hotel is best for a perfect DW. Getting stressed that we haven't booked yet(!)
