  1. This is what my wedding planner sent me: Both you and your future husband are to go to your local parish to take the pre marital classes and your priest will tell you what paper work is required. Your priest must ask our Church permission for you to get married in our Chapel. Our Chapel relies on the main Church in the hotel zone called Cristo Resucitado. Once your priest gives you the letter you are then to scan it and send it to me to by e mail and I will send it to our Church. This letter is called carta traslado & without you will not be able to get married. Cristo Resucitado 011 52 998 849-5035 [email protected] Be sure to contact the resort to book your wedding date and venue!
  2. Only one of you has to be a confirmed Catholic and you would also need a letter of permission from your local priest. It's a pretty lengthy process.
  3. Saza, My fiance and I are in the same predicament. I am catholic and he is not baptized. We are not going to advertise that he isn't baptized, instead simply a Christian. I know some Churches just need to verify that he hasn't been previously married. This is what our wedding planner sent us for the catholic guidelines: Both you and your future husband are to go to your local parish to take the pre marital classes and your priest will tell you what paper work is required. Cristo Resucitado 011 52 998 849-5035 [email protected] Hope this helps!
  4. Does anyone recommend any destination travel agents/specialists for group rates on airfare and/or hotel packages? I'm trying to figure out an affordable way to get my 60+ to fly to Cancun. Thanks for all your help, Celina
  5. I'm getting married at the Chapel at the Gran Caribe resort. Welcome!
  6. It IS very frustrating but I believe it will all be worth it at the end. I have been in contact with someone from the resort and I'm going to try to avoid calling the WC's in Michigan because they never seem to know what's going on and I rather avoid them changing things and messing it up. I believe they do provide limited decorations for the reception (linens, seat covers, silverware) but I'm probably going to bring in some of my own decorations like centerpieces and extra flowers. Keep asking questions here. If they can't answer all our questions at least someone else might be able to.
  7. Val, we have much to talk about. Their outsourced representatives in Michigan told me the same thing (they needed a letter from the priest before the time was finalized). Apparently, they were incorrect and it's just that the 4 p.m. time-slot we 'booked' a la carte was already taken and paid for. Do you chat on gmail? My email is [email protected]
  8. Val, we are getting married at the chapel November 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. You? I originally scheduled the wedding for 4 p.m. but that didn't work out. View post/rant here The venue is amazingly beautiful so we're still having it there but it's going to be at 10am. =/ Now we have no idea what to do between the ceremony and the reception, which probably won't start until 5p.m. I'm frankly a little frustrated with the resort due to poor website maintenance and lack of urgency. They never respond to my emails and apparently this is a big issue for the resort. BUT I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping they are just crazy busy and will be more attentive closer to the wedding date.
  9. Ok so my fiance and I just set a date for our wedding. We reserved the Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at the Gran Caribe Resort in Cancun for November 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. Our wedding date was originally set for November 20, 2010 at 4 p.m. (which is an additional $400 but we thought it was worth it) but AFTER I paid the deposit the time slot was no longer available. =/ I think somehow the week between us booking the wedding (a la carte) and paying the first deposit, someone beat us to the punch and reserved the 4 p.m. time slot. Boo. The venue is beautiful and although my fiance suggested we do this elsewhere in order to have an evening ceremony, I already have my heart set on this chapel. It's gorgeous. Saturday the 20th works best for us so it looks like we're stuck with the 10 am time slot. Is anyone else getting married in the morning and having a reception in the evening? Should I just have a luncheon instead? What should we do for the following 5+ hrs if we set the reception for sunset? - Overwhelmed
  10. I do hope those pipes and all the construction will be over by November 2010. We too plan on having our wedding at the Chapel. MORE PICTURES PLEASE!
