  1. freerunner - sorry for not responding sooner. We actually decided to go with Montana for our destination wedding [well, hopefully, pending site visit in 3 weeks!] A little different from Punta Cana, I know. :-) I did receive some information from the hotel re: weddings which I would be happy to forward on to you if you pm me with your email. (this goes for anyone else who is interested as well)
  2. If anyone knows the answers to these, please let me know (specifically, I'm looking at Jamaica and Emerald Bay). Thanks! 1) The group weddings page says it includes a private rehearsal dinner that can't be on the wedding day. Anyone know what the cost is to do a private dinner after the cocktail reception on the actual wedding day? 2) It says now, no outside photographers, but I've seen pictures on this website from people's outside photogs. Is this a new requirement, or is it negotiable for a fee? 4) Shot in the dark! - does anyone have any idea where I could find the dress worn by the bride in the flutter of romance package on the website? I LOVE it!
  3. jaredrey - zoetry appears to be opening resorts left and right. the one in cabo is the one for the couple you are working for. i'm looking at the one in punta cana, dominican republic (most of my family/guests are east coasters, so dr looks more reasonable for us than cabo, although that one looks beautiful too). ebredhawk - thanks for the info! i actually just found zoetry pc's facebook page today and saw ms. weil's posts on there. i will be sure to friend her. i also saw that somebody else tried to email the resort re: renewal of vows and did not receive a response. i wrote about a week ago and haven't heard anything back yet. maybe they're not ready to do weddings yet? i wish they'd send me something because it really does look like a fabulous place to have a dw. fingers crossed!
  4. Anyone investigated this hotel? It looks appealing because it's so small and elegant, but of course with that comes $$$. Anyone spoken to the WCs yet? Any info would be great! Thanks!
  5. nutmeg and msglave- i am looking into the grand for our dw in 2011. since there is no info from the iberostar website about weddings at the grand, can you post if the wcs sent you any kind of package information/ info about ceremony sites/ how much it would be to rent out the restaurants for the reception/rehearsal dinner/ etc.? i sent an email to the wcs at the bavaro a few days ago because that's the only email i could find, and haven't heard anything back yet. is there somebody at the grand to contact directly? thanks so much and can't wait to read your reviews!
  6. Also, I know that Sandals has a chapel, but somehow the idea of entering a place of worship with the big Sandals logo displayed on the front makes me a little...uncomfortable.
  7. Has anyone looked into having their ceremony at a Protestant church in Montego Bay? I really like the Iberostar Rose Hall for the accommodations/reception/party part, but am not terribly fond of the idea of getting married in front of people in their bathing suits, so I thought there might be a church in the city that would host a wedding. So far, the only churches I can find that seem to find are Catholic, or have very little information (like St. James Parish Church which is lovely, but I'm not sure if it's just a historical site). Anyone had any experience with this? Thanks.
  8. Hey I'm looking into the Bahamas for our DW, but I'd prefer to do it on a more private beach where there won't be other people all up in my ceremony. I'm also considering doing a 3-day Bahamas cruise where one of the days is an excursion to go to the wedding. (I'm not worried about legal formalities, I can always take care of that here in Ohio if need be.) I was wondering if anyone had any research/experience with weddings where you charter a boat to go to a private island? Some possibilities I've found while searching online are: unique wedding ceremonies, wedding locations and bahamas weddings on private islands in the exumas (i've done this as an excursion before, and had a total blast! i was probably 16 when we did it (now 25) and we still talk about how unique and fun it was. however, 15k is a little more than i was looking to spend, and i'm not sure about mixing wedding with iguanas and sharks and stingrays. haha. however, i know it's a totally gorgeous location, even if the adventure part was left out.) and Seahorse Sailing Adventures Daily Excursions from Atlantis, Nassau Paradise Island Bahamas and Sea Island Adventures, Nassau, Bahamas, private island, beach, watersports, snorkel, lunch, coral reefs, historical sightseeing cruises and Barefoot Sailing Cruises, Nassau, Bahamas, sail, cruise, snorkel, evening, dinner, barefoot, private charter, Bahamas (this doesn't look ideal b/c i think i will have more than 26 guests) and Nassau Paradise Island Bahamas snorkel, party cruise, Bahamas beach party (Skeptical of the name "Party cat." lol) Please let me know if any of you have and experience/research info you can share about these trips or any other options I haven't discovered yet. Thanks so much!

  10. Hi everyone! Names: Devon (and Jeff) Wedding date: 2011 Wedding location: Oh maybe Jamaica...or the Yucatan...or the Bahamas...or the Dominican Republic...or possibly Jackson Hole or the Maroon Bells/Aspen area. We're really just in the researching stage. We are leaning toward the Caribbean right now. I just spent Thanksgiving in JA at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, and thought it was nice, but the beach wasn't as pretty as I might hope, and the size/decor made it seem kind of Vegas-y if you know what I mean. But we also want it to be all-inclusive, so always get a little bit of that feeling at those kind of resorts. So now maybe the Iberostar Bavaro Grand in DR might be an option [know the quality of Iberostar and I know from staying at Paradisus in Punta Cana that the beach is lovely there]. But I also like really pretty sunsets so I'm also considering Negril - in contact with the Moondance people, which seems ideal, small and lovely with good food, but unfortunately, they don't seem to give a discount for booking a block of rooms, and also the distance from the airport counts against it. I also LOVE the Royal Plantation, but that also seems a little out of my guest's price range. Sigh. We're totally up in the air at this point, but have some time. Any suggestions/opinions from all of you would be totally appreciated. Thanks!
