I am looking forward to cruising around one day while there and taking in the small town flavor. LOL! Go you! I'm gonna jump in here and say I find PM a great TTD/Day After location. I know the town and shot Wendy's session there. If you know where to go there are some real hidden treasures.

PM does have some souvenirs but really not that much to speak of. I've heard of other girls buying local things for their OOT bags in Cancun/Playa, and they've found things like maracas, chocolates, local cookies, etc. I don't remember seeing anything like that in PM. PM has a few markets in town and the MX version of 7Elven, OXOX (sp).

I am very familiar with the location, my family has a home in town there. Best wishes!
  4. gujarwala what are the dates you are looking at, I may perhaps already be down to the area.
  5. Congrats! I did a site visit there a few months back and found it to be very nice. Our family has a home right down the street and I am looking forward to shooting many more weddings at the resorts surrounding Puerto Morelos.
  6. I have a Bose Soundock and while it has great sound and is a packable size it may not be enough to "fill" the space depending on the location. But if you are looking for some great quality sound in a small portable package I think it is probably you best bet. Very easy to use, just set you iPod/iPhone on and crank it up. Here is a nice portable version

Any suggestions I live in Phoenix and am not sure how to go about finding someone and so many of you have beautiful photos!! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Alissa I have a suggestion...pick me. Congratulations Alissa, I hope all your planning goes well. You are in good hands with the girls here on BDWF, the information is endless. As Wendy mentioned I shoot her event and I will be back down in November for Merideth. I would love to offer any help I can.

She used to let me dance with her, my wife would tear up watching us dance around the kitchen while it played.

You have certainly express your happiness with the pictures, but that is a phase I'd be happy to be attached to. Of course if you didn't mean that, then I am kinda set my self up here :0.

He didn't charge you to travel. He said as long as you purchased a package, he would not charge for travel. ALSO, email every photographer you like. A lot of photographers are trying to get into the destination wedding market, so they may give you a good deal, just to get some exposure. Just do your research! Valid points and that may be the case sometimes, but with anything buyer beware. Be careful with someone who is willing to do it on the cheap for a "free vacation". It will likely be fine, but you never know. Not trying to hate on anyone or scare anyone. I am one of those photographers trying to break into the specific area around Puerto Morelos. I am a full time photographer for the past 6 years and shoot 25+ weddings a year. I have a handful of DWs and hope to do more soon. While I am "working with" my first few clients on pricing, I am also sensitive to my peers in the area and those coming down to do the same work. There is no point in undercutting the locals and having them not happy with us. With that in mind I have taken the time to meet with one local team while down on vacation. I think communication among peers is important. I want to have someone I can possibly turn to in the event of an emergency. We are guests on their turf and should act accordingly. While I enjoy coming down to paradise to do what I love to do, I am also a full time photographer and traveling for weddings is still work. I also think it is important to be legit with the authorities and the resorts. I have heard of plenty of photographers that fly under the radar as another "guest". That may work almost every time, but I'd hate to see what happens if something goes wrong. I listened to my peers and took the time to get my FM3, it was very easy and worth the peace of mind for me and my clients. My intention is to book in Mexico where my family has a home, during the slow season here in Cleveland, November to April. Speaking of breaking into the area, I want to thank Wendy for giving me my first MX DW and I am looking forward to photographing Merideth's wedding in November. Please excuse any perceived harsh tone or negativity, it is not intended at all. I LOVE what I get to do! I am just laying out my personal opinions. Sometimes tone can not come across in writing. Congratulations and Best Wishes! I hope to get to work with more of you soon.

I will likely be down a few days before and after if anyone else is interested during that week.

We arn't bothered about it being private or anything as having a massive AHR, but just seems a bit odd!?! Wow! Down to 1 month on your ticker, bet you are really excited! They are very close, but not walking close.
