  1. We leave in 8 days. . .so I'm right there with you chic! I pulled together centerpieces to HAUL down there since I can't get an answer on what I want. I started a master document of sorts that has every detail that I want for the wedding/reception. I've sent an updated copy to Magdalena everytime we locked something down. My MOH gets there next Friday and she is going to take the list and demand to meet with someone because even though my TA has emailed the resort as well . . . still not hearing anything from the new coordinator as stated I would in the email I got from Magdalena with her resignation announcement.
  2. NOVEMBER BRIDES OMG, I've been patient. I did the site visit, I've tried to convince you all that it will all be great and they will get it all taken care of once we get down there. I setup things with Ana, and after meeting with her at the site visit was confident they would pull it off. Then she left. I started working with Magdalena . . . NOW SHE"S LEAVING TOO. I leave in 10 days!! and I still need some answers!! UUUUGGGGHHHHH

  5. Could any once scan a copy of a legal mexican contract and post it? I'd love to see it!
  6. [i hired Samuel Luna Flash Portfolio | Top Mexico Photographers | Mexico Destination Wedding Photographer Samuel Luna for day of photography. I wasn't impressed by the photographer the resort wanted to include in the package. Plus they are not with you for more than an hour or two. Sam was great!!! He is super nice, professional, on time! My husband loved working with him. I have not seen his photos yet as it takes 6 weeks to receive them. He was onsite from 4pm - 10pm. We took group photos before the ceremony to get them out of the way and take advantage of sunlight. NOTE sunset is around 7pm and it does not set over the beach so we took photos in the day light. Thanks for the review and Please post a some of your professional pics. I've booked with Samuel as well at the same resort to I'm excited to see! CONGRATS.
  7. I wanted to bump this thread . . . I'm not getting married here (don't allow kids, so we're going to Dreams Riviera Cancun) but i am honeymooning here. We got engaged on Maroma Beach and wanted to come back and explore for our Honeymoon! We'll be here at the end of Nov/Begining of Dec 2010.

Yikes.. I'm starting to wonder if my TA was just telling me what I wanted to hear as opposed to the truth. I was told by my TA that they only do two weddings a day, was I misled? Do they do up to 3 per day? I was also told that there was a morning slot and afternoon slot but it seems like two ladies on here have just realized that their ceremonies are only an hour and a half apart. What have you ladies been told about this? On wedding location - I think it's first come first serve. However, Ana clearly stated when I told her we wanted the beach deck, that it would depend on party size, and that the larger party would be given the deck IF that's what they wanted. She then made a note in her large spreadsheet where she tracks all weddings - that our first preference was the beach deck. It may be that your TA has some pull with her to get around this. It was a toss up for me between the beach deck and the pool area . . . the area between the pools has these three little water fountains right in the concrete walk area that are lit up at night an they are SOOOO cool. Really the resort is beautiful . . . and it's going to be a great day/night no matter where your location ends up!!

That way I can just focus on getting those answers from Ana and won't sweat the other stuff. Opinions on what those would be? I am thinking: 1. The wedding location 2. The reception location 3. The ceremony Script (so I have time to make revisions) 4. Available decorations (in case I need to bring my own) 5. I am going to use DRC photographer, but do I have to have the exact package figured out? What else Wedding location and reception location - Depends if anyone else as booked on your day. If no one else is booked that day - dont worry about it till you get there, while I've seen some great pictures, it is so hard to tell until you can stand in the space. If there is someone else is booked on your day (unfortunately Ana is the only one who can tell you this) - then you might try to decide now so she can make a note of it. On my site visit she did tell me that if two parties want the beach deck, it will go to the larger of the two. Ceremony Script - If this is something that's important for you by all means go to work! I know they have some options, but will also accomodate whatever you bring. Decoration - I know they have some tiki tourches, and lots of flower options for the ceremony site as well as tables center pieces ($$). She has lots of flower options so just bring pictures with you of what you like and she'll get it done (again at a cost). But if you have something specific you want, best plan to bring it. They do have chair sashes but the price seemed out of line to me. Photog - Don't worry about it till you are there. It freaked me out at first, waiting to make all these decisions. But after meeting with Ana, I have complete faith.
  12. As an outsider . . . . you're wedding was beautiful! My FI suprised me with a site visit that weekend, so we were actually at your wedding hiding out in the background under the huts. So thanks for letting me intrude a bit . . . and for getting me super excited about my own wedding there on 11.27.10! We stayed in the Master Suite which was beautiful and spacious and looked down onto the whole property and of course the ocean. We met with Ana briefly on Tuesday when we arrived, but we decided to have a sit down meeting the following day. Our wedding was on Saturday. It was only on that Wednesday that we picked out the menu, the ceremony set up (she knew my colors, but that was about it.) My brother is a florist, so he made my bouquet and the bridemaids bouquet, but Ana's florist did the flowers on the canopy. Again, another detail that was only finialized a couple of days before wedding. My husband really wanted pigs in a blanket for our cocktail hour, and Ana made that happen too. As far as the ceremony goes, she had everyone walk down the aisle from down by the swing bar and she had me come out of what I guess is called the Govenor's Suite. It was fun having that time to myself and with my mother (who walked me down the aisle) and watching from afar everyone else walk down. Especially the adorable flowergirls! The minister I only met right before the ceremony and her name was Rosanna. She was a little difficult to understand at times, but she was lovely. We did a spiritual ceremony. I recommend having a micorphone for the ceremony as you do not want to have all your guests travel to a foriegn country for your wedding, and then they cannot even hear the wedding! Apparently kids were on the playground a people were around watching and I thought that would really bother me. It did not. I did not even notice for a second. Oh and the ceremony was scheduled for 5, although it may have been a bit later, I am not sure. I feel like I was behind schedule. Forgive me for skipping around here, I am writing as I think of things. I did a hair trial at the salon the day before. I suggest doing this to save yourself any grief and you can establish a relationship with the woman doing your hair. I cannot remember my girl's name right now but she was very sweet. A hair trial was about $45.00. I did not do a make-up trial, but I thought she did a lovely job. I did bring my own make-up as I work for a cosmetic company but she had plenty of makeup in the salon. We had the cocktail hour by the lounge beds and the mariachi band during this time. They were great and everyone had a lot of fun with them. We had the reception on the deck and although I did not fully see in my head how it would be set up when we did a walk through, Ana knew what she was doing. We had plenty of room for dancing which is good because my party danced the whole time! Nonstop! Need to go. Will continue later... We had the cocoktail hou

The resort is beautiful and you will not be disappointed--i promise. I am having my ceremony on the beach-it is really pretty and we are having the reception on the deck. You literally walk off the beach and onto the wooden deck. It is perfect and is right next to the infinity pool. At night the whole resort has all different pretty lighting. Hope this helps. My FI supprised me with a site visit last weekend. We are working with a TA (Jill) and she got him a pretty great rate for the three nights we were there.
  14. Before you get all fired up about pricing . . . read the fine print. There are often service fees on TOP of the prices listed in the pricing guide. So while it may say $300, and Ana quotes you $330, that would be the price with the service fees included. Although I still think their prices are high

The first good news is that the arch with white tulle is complimentary I am very happy about this because that is a couple hundred dollars saved and I like very simple, clean decorations. I am doing the Dreams of Love package and it comes with the 20 person reception and 20 person cocktail hour. My fiance and I have decided not to have a cocktail hour because it seems silly with so many bars available to them for free. For that hour we will be taking our pictures and my bridal party has agreed to "gather" everyone else at the beach bar where they all can drink and hang out for the hour. We are having 40 people and most of them are family so I know they all will be okay with hanging out at the beach bar for that hour. I just figured that the resort includes these bars so we might as well take advantage of it. So the good news is... instead of the cocktail hour I only have to pay $20 per extra guest at the reception (tax and gratuity included in the $20!). This has brought down the price significantly! Just thought I would share with the rest of you if you maybe wanted to try to cut costs. I would rather spend the extra money on group excursions than a private hour of cocktails. Thanks so much for that info!! I will totally copy your plan if I can get Ana to do the same for me ie no cocktail hour and reduce the price of the dinner add ons . . . . do you think it would be possible for you to pm me the contract once you get one? Thanks for sharing and doing the leg work for us!
