  1. Hi shellk, I just got married legally in Mexico and only had to email a copy of my passport to our wedding coordinator at the resort. Nothing needed to be translated! I asked many times if we needed to bring our birth certificates and the answer was no b/c neither of us had changed our names previously. We received our marriage cert/license in Spanish before we left the resort. We were told that we should receive a translated copy in 1-3 months! I plan to wait to change my name once the English version arrives.
  2. Hello Maroma Brides! I just got married on July 2 at SMB and was so happy with absolutely everything! Sunset Time The sunset occurred at 7:30pm on July 2. Our ceremony was scheduled for 6pm. I think we had just enough time for pictures after the ceremony. The judge and photographer were running a bit late due to road construction so I don't believe the ceremony started until 6:15 or so. Plan plenty of time for people to be late and to get your pictures done before the sun goes down! Hair I had my hair done in the salon and was very pleased! I did a run through in my hometown (having AHR) and took some pictures with me to SMB. I showed these to the hair person and she did it a bit different but right along the lines of what I was going for. She was more than willing to adjust it when she was done to get it really close to what I wanted! Makeup I wear makeup every day - not too much, just going for the natural look. Before I left for Mexico, I went to my makeup store, took all my makeup and talked through with them what to do on my wedding day. I bought some new products and used the tips on my day. The salon has a nice women's room which I used to do my makeup after getting my hair done. Photos I really wanted great photos of our wedding and I and so please with what we got! I used resort photographer principal and our photographer was Antionto. He directed us and we were just laughing and having a great time and he captured the moment I was hoping for! If you are interested in seeing my photos, please send me a PM. I'm happy to share! Video Since it was just my FI and me at the wedding, we got a video and I LOVE IT!!! Granted it isn't perfect b/c sometimes we were looking at the photographer and sometimes at the videographer but it is so wonderful to have something beautiful to show my family and friends! Preferred Club We LOVED having a preferred room with access to the preferred club! It was GREAT! There are three computers, bar, snacks all throughout the day, a TV and comfy places to sit. The club is between buildings 24 & 25 (If anything I might be off by one number) and with our room in 25 it was so close to bop in for a drink, snack or to hop on the computer! Totally worth it!

Since I am planning to wear my dress at the AHR I can't actually trash the dress but I am thinking of doing a photosession. I really want great pictures! Any tips of photographers? Is the one the resort provides any good? Sorry if this has been asked - I'm just starting this research.
  4. Kits55 - I'm glad everything worked out for you! I'm getting married legally at Secrets Maroma in less than a month and I'm having the same concerns! What paperwork did they end up needing to make the Mexico ceremony legal? Also, when did you receive the marriage certificate? When you were in Mexico - or - was it mailed to you months later?
  5. I've scheduled a 6pm wedding ceremony at Secrets Maroma and now considering bumping it earlier to add a photo shot with an outside photographer after the ceremony. I'm concirned, like many of you, about how to avoid the heat of the day and to finish all the photos before the light is gone. Things to consider...
  6. Hi Mnbrown02 - I'm getting married one day before you at Secrets Maroma! Exciting! There are lots of July Maroma brides on here!
  7. Looks like I've found several other brides on the same wave length as me here! My fiance and I are getting married legally at Secrets Maroma on July 2, 2009 with just us. A simple ceremony on the beach, romantic dinner on the beach, and much time relaxing on the beach - this is what we have been dreaming about! Then we'll have a large reception/party in town mid August to celebrate with family and friends! Two days later I walked out of a store with a gorgeous white dress that needed some minor alterations! airampz - if you aren't super focused on one particular dress then you will be fine! The one area I would like to focus on for my wedding is photos! Must have some great photos of the event! It's been helpful reading over these posts because I'm really considering hiring an outside photographer. Thanks for the tip!
