  1. My parents went to the Plantation House to check it out for us. They loved it. They said the service and food were both excellent. The Sea House is one of their perennial faves. They say the view is the best on the island and the food is consistently good. I think they said the Sea House is a little more expensive than Plantation House.
  2. Hi! We're getting married in Maui in June 2010. Our plan is to have ceremony at Flemings Beach, lunch reception at Plantation House and evening luau for friends and family. Happy planning - this board is great!
  3. I think we've decided on the Plantation House. We looked at the Five Palms but it was pretty far from where we're staying (30 min +) and thought transportation might be an issue for some of our guests. We're hoping to provide transportation for everyone and that can get pretty expensive! We're having a morning ceremony, brunch reception and then we're treating our guests to Old Lahaina Luau that evening. It's going to be a jam packed day but hopefully a great one. Thanks for the great advice!
  4. We're doing the Old Lahaina Luau for our guests. So excited! Good luck and happy planning!
  5. Welcome and congratulations! You'll find all sorts of great info on these boards!
  6. Congrats! We're getting married in Maui, too, and have just started planning. Best of luck with everything.
  7. Hello! My fiance and I are starting to plan our wedding and reception. We're not going to have a traditional reception since we're anticipating a small crowd. We're thinking of having a dinner after the ceremony at either the Plantation House or the Sea House. I've looked at both menus online and they look great. Has anyone been to either? My parents own property in Maui and have been to the Sea House many times and love it, but I'm looking for other opinions! Thanks so much for all of the great info and advice. Kim
  8. I have the exact same guilt. We have been going back and forth for about a year between destination wedding and one at home. We finally decided that we are going to do what we want and what makes us happy. If our friends can come they will, and if they can't, I know they understand.

    Hello!!

Thanks, everyone for making me feel so welcome. I've been looking around at the posts and have found so much useful information. The planning part is a little overwhelming but it looks like it will be much easier with such great advice.

    Hello!!

Hello to everyone here! My name is Kim Hoffman. I'm engaged to a wonderful guy named Ross Merkel. We've been engaged since May 2008 and hope to be married in Maui in the summer of 2010. I'm not sure about how many guests we're bringing with us; the only ones we know for sure are my two sons and our parents. Looks like a lot of people have their weddings on the beach and then have a small dinner reception or go to a luau. I can't wait to read about everyone's adventures!
