We are having a DW and were originally planning on just inviting our parents. That didn't go over so well with a lot of people so we extended it to Aunts and Uncles and a few friends. There's a lot of the family that we didn't invite who would like to be part of our day so we're doing an AHR. It won't be a formal thing. We'll just rent a hall and have a potluck party and show our pictures and video.

Dreams Punta Cana was one of our top 3 resorts. We ended up going with the Gran Bahia Ambar but were pretty set on Dreams for awhile. The price seems very reasonable to me. Our guests will be paying $2000 per person for a week. Like everyone has said, take bad reviews with a grain of salt. I've read reviews for places that i've been before that were awful and I had an amazing time. People are much more likely to write a review when they had a bad time vs a good time.

My wedding date has been officially booked for April 20, 2010 at GBP and Photosouvenir has confirmed that I have them booked. I'm so excited. It's a huge stress that has been lifted now that it's booked. Now onto other planning.

They said they would let me know if people started booking around that time and to get in touch with them as soon as I knew the date for sure. Well I emailed them 2 weeks ago, didn't get a response, so I emailed them again last week and still haven't heard. How long did it take for them to get back to you for those of you that have used them. I don't want to miss out because they take amazing pictures. Should I try calling instead?

We just got our group rate quotes for Gran Bahia Principe and it is $2100 per person after taxes. That's flying from Vancouver and is airfare and hotel (all inclusive) Our guests think it's too expensive too and are backing out. But it's my wedding and I want to stay in a nice hotel. We're only having a small wedding (15 people) and probably half have backed out. That's also quite far in advance, so prices will most likely go down later in the year.

My TA told me that prices have not come out for that time next year and won't come out until mid summer most likely. The further in advance you book, the more expensive it is. Which is unfortunate because of course we're going to want to book asap. I want to book my wedding photographer but I can't do that until the hotel and date are confirmed. I'm trying to get group rates which can apparently be locked in at this time. I'd need 10 people but i'm having a small wedding and will only have 10-15 people who don't have a clue what they're going to do in regards to where they are staying. So as of right now, no one will commit to being part of the group rate so as of right now, I can't book anything. It's very frustrating. So what i'm trying to do, is reserve the wedding day I want before booking the package as I may have to wait until prices do come out. I'm waiting to hear back on if I can have the date.

There are so many choices out there. It's super difficult to decide on what resort. FH and I have gone back and forth so many times on where to have it. Price would depend where you're flying from. I'm in Vancouver, BC and the ones that were our top choices were: Dreams PC Majestic Colonial Gran Bahia Principe Melia tropical We chose Gran Bahia because they would allow us to use a local photographer and would be a reasonable price for our guests(approx 2000 for one week). Everyone is going to tell you that the resort they're having their wedding is the best. It really depends on what you like the look of and what factors of it are important to you. Do you want a resort that is a party resort, has a lot of entertainment, has more of a private beach, etc.

Hi there, I'm planning on getting married there in April 2010 as well. I'm waiting to hear back from my TA about group rates and if the date I want can be reserved. I'm super inpatient so waiting to get replies from everyone is frustrating, haha.

I've always thought that their family was cult-like.
