  1. I think you can go to this link. I selected a few pics. The first ones with the orange fabric (which they can take down) is of the nicer looking Colonial beach gazebo. The ones of my actual wedding are of the Elegance beach gazebo. Oh yeah and if you want fabric on the chairs or anything other than white around it you have to bring it I think. I think they did have a red carpet that they can roll out for you if you want it more formal and wear heels on the beach. A wedding after mine had that. Shutterfly | View share
  2. Hi Everyone! I just back back this past Saturday from having our wedding at the ELEGANCE on Wednesday July 29. It was such a great time and we loved it! We were in the upgraded Adults Only section and it was completely worth it! Our butler Angel was the BEST! Maritee was our coordinator and she was great. We had a beach ceremony and Angel and other resort employees stopped people from walking by on the beach. There were a lot of people who stopped and watched! I think it was best to use a CD for music, I brought a CD and my ipod just in case. I'm not sure if is one beach location for the majestic and for the colonial, but the one we had didn't look AS good as the colonial's. They do provide you with a microphone and a sound system on the beach since it is really hard to hear with the waves. We were told that we could have 50 people in the Steakhouse but then later we were told that was too many so we ended up getting the rented conference room for free! We had dancing in their as well b/c we just rented a sound system and used our ipods. Ended up being a great idea! It was hot even though there was AC. Then on Wednesday nights (I'm assuming every week is the same) they had a beach party for both resorts that we went to, and then headed to the disco. So we didn't go to sleep until 3am! too much fun! There are definitely things you have to think about that I didn't realize. 1. Communication is really hard! No one's phones worked and it is sort of a big resort so there as a lot of walking to find people. 2. Luckily Maritee our wedding coordinator carries around her cellphone with her so we could get in touch with her if we called the front desk. 3. Time was hard to keep track of. We would try to meet up places for events we planned like a game night and it was hard to spread the word sometimes! we did have about 50 guests though. 4. Flowers you pick from a book so you really can't be picky about what you want. They are kinda not worth it, at least to me they weren't. 6 bridesmaids and mine came out to be $400!! luckily we used them as centerpieces too. 5. Any decorations or extra touches you want, you have to bring them with you!! We made gift bags for everyone and it was a lot to bring down. We gave our guests a newsletter I wrote up (sorta all the info that would be in a program for the ceremony, schedule of events, about the resort, stuff like that) aloe, immoduim, pepto, wet wipes (everyone LOVED them), chocolates, sun screen, gum, purell... stuff like that. I also made menus and place cards for the reception. So ask my any questions you'd like I'm sure i'm forgetting a lot to mention! I am a graphic designer so I did all of the additions myself, so if you'd like to see let me know. It's hard to post a lot of pics on here. Or if you'd like to render my services i'd be glad to! email me if you'd like pictures!! I'll try to put some on here. gregandkat@gmail.com
  3. Jodj Great pics from your wedding and congrats!! We're getting married down there in 1 month! Can't wait. Had a couple of questions though: Was your ceremony on the beach? I liked your location but it doesn't look like anything that Maritee has sent me pictures of. What time does the Disco open? Where did you have your reception dinner? How was it working with the florist? Do you think I could find flowers somewhere else besides from their florist? I don't want to spend that much money on flowers. Did you have decorations that you brought with you? I'm thinking of bringing some, but I just don't know what because I have no idea what everything will look like! Thanks for your help
  4. Does anyone know if we are doing a symbolic ceremony that we HAVE to bring our marriage certificate? JOSH- Do you have any pictures of a beach ceremony at the Elegance? I don't really like that alter thing they've got going on in some photos I've seen. I'm having a dinner at the steakhouse at the Elegance, and at first I told Maritee that I would have 35-40 people, and now its up to 55. When I asked what the table set up would be (4 months later), she came back and told me that I could only have 30 people in the separate room and if I was having more, I'd have to pay $25 per person to have it in the private dining area at the steakhouse. I was shocked she never told me that before b/c it was like $1200 we didn't expect! But our planner/TA through destinationweddings.com worked it out and we won't have to pay extra.
  5. Anna_C Can you let me know if we can use a different florist than the one the resort provides? I think the prices are really high so I'm trying to use another florist. Thanks! Greg and Kat
  6. CityDryms, I'm going there this july and I got a pretty good deal. For the whole week (7 nights), 2 people, upgraded to adults only room category at the Elegance, and flight from DC (BWI actually) was $2700 for 2 people. But I think that was also b/c they were running a special since its a new resort. We booked ours through a TA and she basically booked it though applevacations.com Maybe she can compare prices. look into cheapcarribean.com and vacationstogo.com Also, you have to book like 20 rooms from the same TA in order to get any free nights. Just something to keep in mind.
  7. Hi! Can you add me to this group please? My fiance and I are getting married at the Elegance on July 29, 2009. We're having a symbolic ceremony but do you know if they really require your marriage certificate rather than the license? We are getting married in the States legally after the our trip to the DR. I was reading some other forms and got mixed reviews about it so I was wondering if anyone had a symbolic ceremony at either of these. Thanks! I have an updated menu for the Steak house and the seafood restaurant below. SET MENUS RESTAURANTES * GRUPOS BODA SEE & SEA Appetizer: Marinated salmon with fresh cheese and vodka orange reduction over blinis Entrée: Octopus cocktail Main course: Grilled Lobster Dessert: Chocolate Mouse or Wedding Cake Options: Pasta ASADITO Appetizer: Nachos chips with guacamole Entrée: Ruccula Salad with goat cheese and cured ham Soup: Pumpkin Cream with blue cheese. Main Course: Beef Sirloin in wine reduction. Dessert: Brownie o Wedding Cake Options: Pasta Chicken
