  1. thanks jackobelle for the great link....helpful to know too that things will burn out regardless of converter or adapter...may just be o natural!
  2. Just wanted to add some ideas that I have had for my welcome brochure for Holguin. I am planning on sending this out by email or snail mail 3 weeks before we leave for the wedding (aka, this Saturday), so that everyone has time to prepare. These are the items I am going to include: -airport and parking information (Toronto) -flight times and terminals, idea for tying on luggage – ribbons, bows? -flight stops in Cayo Coco, we get a meal, 2 pieces of luggage totaling 20kg (44lbs-suggestion is to only bring one piece) -once we arrive in Holguin -security check, pick up luggage, have one person get money exchanged and the other get baggage, get beer, get on bus – ride is 60-70 minutes from the airport to the resort -arrival at resort, check in, drinks -resort information –restaurants and dress code at night, book early! -bars -wedding information, day before, day of, wedding dress code -off resort tours, excursions, scooters, trip to town -bringing presents for maids, etc -tipping -voltage – need converters -check out sunwing website for ideas of possible tours: Holguin Tours and Excursions - Sightseeing Attractions in Holguin – Sunwing Vacations.
  3. Amarillis, thanks for the posting of your personalized ceremony...love the hands ceremony part too...I think we're going to have some of our family members read some things for us, and this very well may be one of them! Gotta get the approval of the FI but, I think he will like it too...especially if it doesn't mean writing his own vows
  4. Last time I was in Cuba I brought the adapters and converter and had to use them. They worked on the camera, but not on the Ipod (which was sad). I didn't bring a curling iron or straightener, or hair dryer because I didn't really care how I looked (it was me and my hunny only). This time...kind of worried, but really only need to look good for one day

  6. I love all the ideas - thanks so much for the templates too!
  7. I debated over this for a long time, and I think that whatever suits your situation is the best option. At my wedding in just over a month, my mom will be walking me down the aisle. I have a dad and a step-dad, and was raised by my mom and step dad. I thought very hard about the most influential parent to me, rather than tradition and went with my mom. I also think that it will offend the least number of people. Neither dad can argue that mom was and is #1, even if it is tradition. Plus I could never pick one over the other. I wish all of them could walk me, but 4 people down the aisle...a little much. I will try to include my dads in other special ways on that day...any ideas??
  8. I dealt with Kaylan from an ebay store called factory 21. They do all kinds of personalized drinkware (mugs, cups, shot glasses, etc.), and I ordered a lot of 50. They were incredibly easy to deal with, they designed me several different designs for free for the mugs, and included my own artwork in it, which made it very personal (same graphic as my wedding invites). I would highly recommend them for the excellent service I received. The mugs should be here in a week or two, and I will post again to let you know how they turned out. He even let me choose 2 different mug colours (one for the guys and one for the girls) free of charge. In the mean time, check out: eBay Store - Factory 21 Promotional Items: Shot Glasses, Steins, Trays
  9. I think a bbq is a great idea and that's what we're doing for the AHR. Originally we were just going to have it in our apartment's common backyard and make the food ourselves, but my mom said she wanted to host it, so now its at my parents with a caterer making the food (still bbq hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, and drinks), and we're having a fancy cake and putting our "wedding attire" back on for the benefit of those who didn't make it to Cuba. It's going to be 2 weeks after we return, and we included it on the formal invitation with a response card for both activities! So far, very favourable response to it - looks like we'll have somewhere around 60-70 people! I love the idea of a slideshow...I think I'll make a powerpoint and run it on the big screen TV, and leave out other pictures for people to look at. I'm looking forward to being able to celebrate with those people who can't made it to the DW
  10. Thanks for the wedding ceremony words...it gives me something to think about, if I should add some more personal touches to it as well...I love the poem and the beautiful words at the beginning.
  11. I was considering getting fans, especially after I tried on my dress and realized its way hotter than I thought it would be!! My mom thinks its a good idea too. Unfortunately all the palm leaf ones from bliss wedding market are out of stock until june 2009, which might be too late to order and get here for early july. I found some here and I'm going to see if I can order. Also, always try e-bay! Natural Straw Fans (Set of 12)
  12. M is the beginning of the salutation its true...and is traditional to put, and looks (I guess) classier than Name: but if people are going to be so dumb, maybe I need to go with Name: since mine are postcards and there isn't a spot for return addresses! Thanks for the tips everyone.
  13. I'm having a bit of a hard time with this too. Does this sound ok?? Kindly respond by July 1, 2009 M____________________________________________ ____will____will not attend the wedding in Cuba ____will____will not attend the reception in Canada _______ persons will attend
