If thats the case, I could just have the wedding/reception at the Caribe or something, and still just have a room at the palace The problem with having guests stay at other places is that they can't access the Palace pool. We ran into the situation that everyone is staying at the Palace but two couples (who don't know each other). This means that everyone will be hanging out at the palace pool but those people. We are now going to have to try to move the group to the beach or another pool making 50 people accomodate 4 people.
  2. Be sooooo careful! The pin definately won't hold the train but further to that, one point bustles are infamous for ripping the dress when you sit down on them! Sit very slowly

Hi Elisha I am using Playa Weddings (Playa Weddings - Video and Photography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya). I felt their packages were quite reasonable. They were only a couple hundred more than the resort photographer and I get the negatives of my pictures which was important for me. They have been quick in resonding and seem very nice. They offer videography as well. Let me know if you decide to use them!
  5. Hi Elisha, I am hiring a local photographer and have rented a room for them. They told me they have done this at the Barcelo one other time and it worked out. I am praying it goes well for me. I really want these photos to work out!

Elisha, To the best of my knowledge the photographer rules have changed since SoontobeMHeikkinen was married. Since then we ladies have been forced to book our photographers a room for the night so they are considered a guest. I will be trying this in April. Wish me luck!
  7. No I don't think I will get either. Mugs was just too expensive for all our guests and I already ordered palm fans for the ceremony. I'm still trying to figure out favours....
  8. Welcome MayanLily! What kind of problems are you having? I have not tried Romantic Planet but I know we had trouble with travel agents. We went to four different companies and the lowest "group rate" they could get for our hotel was $2006 per person. We decided to book on line through expedia.com and let our guests find their own online deals. We ended up paying $ 1300 per person. I haven't really noticed any disadvantages not using a travel company so far. Are you other Calgary brides using a travel company?
  9. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP!! Has anyone had a Catholic Wedding at the Barcelo? My Deacon wants to know all the details for Father Jorge Castaneda. Once again this website prevents another catastrophy! Nadine would you mind PMing me with the details of your commisioner?
  11. Thanks for the suggestions! Weddingfavours.ca has the fans I am looking for! I also ordered a parasol from them and am going to attempt to make my own Thank You parasol. Wish me luck!
  12. I was hoping that someone from Canada has had experience ordering palm/rafia fans. So many websites do not ship to Canada and if they do, the shipping cost is WILD! If anyone could give me some advice it would be much appreciated!
  13. Sandra- Thank you so much for the review! It was really helpful but mostly reasuring! I am so excited now for my wedding. Congatulations and blessings on your marriage!!!! Look forward to more pics
