  2. Hey girls! I just found this post.. My wedding is on 6.22.09! Left to do: -guestbook (making a photobook from mypublisher.com) -do the contract with the table and chair rental company so we have places for people to sit during dinner -order chair sashes -make b-pic book for Josh's wedding gift -get snacks for OOT bags before we leave -bridal portraits are this Sunday -three more showers -get parent gifts -mail invites next week! -send out AHR invites before we leave for the wedding -finalize AHR details -pick up Josh's ring from the jewelers -pack, pack, and pack some more! That's about it for me. :-)
  3. Journey to the Aisle and Beyond: Sand ceremony trial That's a great link for the DIY girls. You just buy a frame from Kohl's (called an Umbra Ether frame) and they have deals on it frequently from what I've read. It's not as customized as the ones you can get from Sandframes, but it's cheaper if you feel like DIY-ing this project. I'm still thinking about it; my mom keeps trying to find stuff for use to use, but I'm not sure what I want yet. I know you can wax seal the top of a vase, but I'm afraid I'll make a mess and it won't look good at all. Plus, I'm concerned about getting it home; I know girls tape plastic wrap and all sorts of stuff over it, but still I'm not sure. I think I just typed enough to make me want to do a frame for the ease of it!
  4. I don't even speak to my dad so I too have thought a lot about who's going to walk me down the aisle: -Stepfather passed away 3.5 years agp, so that is not an option. -Grandfather passed away two years ago, so that was eliminated. -My mom and I don't always get along really well, but still she has always been my mom. I originally thought she would, but she seemed weirded out by that. Her suggestion: -My 12 year old brother. This is okay, and the idea is growing on me. With all of that said, you have to do what you are most comfortable with. Now that I've said out loud so much that my brother will be walking me down the aisle, I feel better about it. I can't imagine doing it any other way. I think your mom would be a great person if she's been the one remaining consistency in your life; but I know mine didn't think it was a great idea. Again, we don't really always get along so that may be why. I think it's okay for you to have them both walk you down the aisle. It's your day, so do what makes you happiest and will give you the best memory. Good luck!
  5. You can click the link in my siggy to see some of these projects; not all of them are there as of yet!
  6. I made my STDs using their larger magnet (really simple before I knew how to upload a design from powerpoint) - it just had our picture from that summer at the beach, our names, wedding date, and location. I made our AHR invites using the oversized postcard and a powerpoint design. I made the design for one of my shower invites for a friend who isn't as computer skilled on the regular sized postcard (which was great because they matched the whole idea of the wedding, simple with a conch shell design). I made our Thank You card using our logo, very simple, on the regular sized post card. I made shower invite inserts using the business cards so my hostesses had it fairly easy; they just said "Tara and Josh are registered at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond." Simple is the name of my game. I'm going to make the welcome letter for our OOT bags using the oversized postcard as well. I love Vista Print; but watch out clicking things on their site because you can magically enter yourself into a scam of $14.95 each month. I got it worked out and all the money back, but just be cautious.
  7. I'm having three showers, and lingerie party with my girl friends. While we sent out some wedding save the dates to people who aren't coming the wedding (and we knew that when we sent them), we didn't send everyone we know one. Instead, they will be invited to an AHR (guestlist: 200+). There are 50 people coming to my wedding, and I don't want gifts from them. They are all requesting to be invited to showers, some even more than one. I didn't think we would have showers, but when everyone realized they wouldn't be able to come to our wedding they immediately wanted to do something to celebrate with us, hence 3 showers and a party. I'm slowly getting used to the idea of this, although I understand the appearance could be that we just want gifts - not the case at all. I didn't even plan on registering, but the DAY of our engagement women from his church were asking where we were registering. I know in our case destination weddings are a rare situation, so people don't really read into it as gift-whoring. All this shower biz has become a little overwhelming; I'm just ready for my wedding to be here so I don't have any more showers to deal with!
  8. Oh, I guess an amount would be appreciated, huh? LOL, I'm losing my mind. I'm probably spending around $200 on each of them without the travel and lodging, but they are each hosting me a shower so it's well deserved.
  9. I bought my girls a matching garment bag, duffle bag, and large cosmetic bag. I bought it from the $5 sale on american bridal last week, so that only really cost me $25 including shipping (I didn't monogram, as neither of them are married yet and initials change!). I'm putting make up for the wedding day, Big Sexy Hair spray, body wash/lotion/spray from Bath and Body Works, manicure set, sunscreen, nail polish, make up remover, and I can't remember what else in the cosmetic bag. Flip flops and a beach towel will be in the duffle bag. I may add a clutch, so they have a lot of goodies that they can use in Gulf Shores, but also when we are back home too. I'm also having their dresses custom made, and giving them wedding jewelry. We are probably also getting a mani/pedi once we arrive. I have two attendants, and we are also providing travel and lodging accomodations. We don't have a big budget, but I wanted to pamper my girls as I'm the first in my immediate circle to get married. It's important to note that I'm a bargain shopper; I use my Bath and Body coupons to get lots of free stuff!
  10. I bought mine from etsy.com seller Bella Bridal Veils (it may not be spaced, try it as one word if that doesn't work). I'm sure you could send her a picture of what you want, and she'd try to create it. She's not expensive, and custom made my 18" veil. It's perfect: I can wear it low on the back of my head in my up do and it's length is perfect for my tea length dress.
  11. I bought a fun maxi dress that's orange (my wedding color), red, coral, and a little khaki in it from New York and Company to wear after the wedding. It will be fun just to party in. Depending on how dressy you want to go, you might find some at 15dollarstore.com. They sometimes have some cute stuff.
  12. I'm wearing a pair of Blushing Bride panties (hot pink of course) from Victoria's secret, and a long line bra from David's Bridal. (I know it's going to be warm, but I'm not wearing the dress for long. I'm a size 4 and shouldn't really need a bra - but in order to keep my dress in perfect position I'll need it.) I'm changing into another wedding dress for pictures in the ocean, then into a long fun maxi dress so that I'm comfy and can party! The sexy stuff can wait until the next day!
  13. Also, you can do a sand ceremony frame. You can include a picture in the frame; you get the ones with multiple panes of glass and do it yourself with some sealant. Then, just seal it shut when you get back home. I know a lot of girls who bought the frame from Kohls, and I think Target had one too - they worked fine. I've found this to be really helpful: Journey to the Aisle and Beyond: Sand ceremony trial There are a lot of options out there. Just google sand ceremony frames and see what you get. I know there are people who make them from whatever style wood you'd like them too, ranging from regular oak to dark woods, to orange and purple woods. Hope that helps!
  14. I am having my photographer take group shots of the entire 50 people coming to the wedding and giving those to everyone. I'll probably be giving the wedding party especially pictures of us together. Hope that helps!
