  1. Do a search as well there are some reviews on weddings at Gran: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23916 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t43618
  2. I am also getting married at Gran Porto Real in 3 months. We chose Gran because we have a 4-year-old daughter so Royal was out of question I assume that Royal is a bit more luxurious but if you have families with kids as guests I think it is nicer to stay all at the same resort. I think it is a good idea to change to Royal for the honeymoon! As the wedding coordinators are same in both and also the wedding packages I guess it doesnt make a much difference whether you get married at Gran or at Royal. I can give you more info after our wedding!

  4. Hi there, I am also getting married in November! Our wedding date is set on November 19 and the place is Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen. I am expecting our wedding and the whole 2-weeks holiday to be something very special as we have to spend 14 hours flying to Mexico I´ve been many times in Asia and around Europe but this is my first time in that side of the world. I am so excited! Our wedding will be quite small with only 6 guests and we are trying to keep everything pretty simple and small

Sometimes it is just that either you come with your children or you dont come at all. Of course if you want to have kids free wedding then you just have to accept that some people may not be able come. I have a 4-year-old daughter and I would never have left her for 4 days with a babysitter when she was 1-year-old. But now that would be possible, lately she has spent some weekends with grandparents and she loves it! Perhaps you could try to organize a babysitter there for the time of the wedding? Or put your FI to talk with his friends that would they be able to come without the kids. Dont worry I am sure that everything will work out fine!
  6. Thank you for the dafont.com information. I just found some lovely palm trees there And there are also so many flowers to choose from!
  7. We are staying 3 full days before and 9 days after Well, Mexico is so far away from here so we decided to stay a bit longer! I would say that at least it would be nice to stay couple of days after the wedding so that you can truly relax and enjoy your first days being Mrs. there and not in traveling or spending time at the airports etc.!
  8. Very beautiful! Thank you for sharing this! I may buy jewelry from here as shipping costs are very reasonable to Europe as well. In many cases you end up paying more for the shipping than the product itself (so wrong!!)

  11. Welcome and congrats! This site is really amazing
  12. Just be prepared that some of your guests may not come to your wedding if children are not welcome. If you are ok with that then no problems! Going to a DW means being away from home for quite many days and leaving young children or even babies / finding a babysitter for longer time can be impossible. But I really agree with you having children at your wedding changes the atmosphere especially if there are many! Well, our wedding will not be child-free as we have a 4-year-old daughter but she will the only child at the wedding though
  13. Muchas gracias!! I have already started to study Spanish again I lived 1 year in Spain 5 years ago and spoke Spanish fluently back then, so just a little more practice and I am so ready for our 2-weeks holiday in Mexico! Next thing I have to do is to find a photographer. Gran Porto Real is using Funever Photos, but it seems that they don't even have a website.. Here I have found so many good photographers but most of them are a bit too expensive to us! Well, I still have a lot of time for that!
  14. I found this forum via Google and this has been already very useful for me! We are planning to have our wedding in Playa del Carmen in November this year. We just decided that a week ago and now we have our wedding already booked! We wanted our wedding to be something different, we have been together over 10 years and have a 4-year-old daughter and in addition we are atheists, so traditional wedding was out of question. We love traveling so we thought that DW would be an excellent choice for us! Selecting the location was actually quite easy as we had to select a place where we can fly with charter (otherwise for example to Mexico would take around 20 hours, with charter flights it is 13 hours). Our travel agency had couple of good AI hotels to offer us in Playa del Carmen and we ended up booking with Gran Porto Real. Very easy so far We will only be having 6 guests in our wedding, so everything will be simple and small. (Just the way I wanted!) PS. I am not native in English so just ignore the minor spelling errors I might do
