  1. Thanks for everyone replied! Yours Truly -- I have done some research and from what I could tell most resorts only offer "free" packages if you book at least 5 rooms or upgrade to a Honeymoon Suite. I am still looking for a resort that would be more flexible in their package contents/prices, so if you have any suggestions, let me know! I also contacted a TA, so I'm curious what they will find. Sstotz -- that's a beautiful dress! Funny, I just got a dress from JCrew on their great sale (ends today, I believe), it's Sophia Long and it was $125 (now only $99!) Women's dresses - weddings & parties - Silk tricotine Sophia long dress - J.Crew Great minds think alike AprilandPatrick -- thanks for the info. I contacted Majestic Colonial in DR to ask if they can be flexible in their packages and make it cheaper if I don't need some of the stuff they include, but they said 'NO'. I guess it doesn't hurt to contact more resorts. I just thought they'd all be like that. Do you know of any specific ones that can cater to your needs? And yes, please send me any info you have on symbolic ceremonies or anything else that you think might help out my situation. Thanks so much in advance!! Jteam -- Congratulations! Do you know where you are going yet? Thanks again everyone for your responses!
  2. This is my newbie post! My name is Maria and my fiance & I would like to get married this spring (09) somewhere in the Caribbean in the simplest way possible. Specifically, we would like to go somewhere warm and tropical, preferably and AI, where we can just relax for a week without any worries. We will likely not have any guests, maybe the parents, but that's not clear at the moment. Thus, we don't really need the things that most "wedding packages" offer, such as the cake or the champaign -- that's what the all-inclusive is for! Anyone has ideas on nice resorts (or pointers to previous threads discussing this issue) that feature free (or inexpensive) weddings for people like us, on a tight budget and very simple needs/wants? Thanks in advance!
